I thought thats what most fans do? They act like they're coach and know how to improve the team and players? I.E Tmac should drive more. You think us fans who know very little about basketball can elighten tmac and the entire Houston coaching staff about how Tmac can improve his game? comical. Im glad you like my sig
It's one thing to write "Tmac should drive more." It's another to actually suggest that Tmac reading what is written will actually turn on a light bulb in his head that he should drive more. I.E "Tmac should drive more." "I hope Tmac reads this because it's true. And obviously he doesn't know it and neither does the Houston coaching staff. I'll bet when he reads this, he'll actually start to drive more."
The real question with "soft" is how do you respond when you're pushed? When Yao gets knocked down, he gets pissed off. When he gets pissed off he starts draining everything in sight. Wasn't it in a game against Seattle where somebody (Collison?) fouled him, he got angry and then started dismantling the other team by himself? He may never get into a fight into the NBA, but his instincts are what you would want as a coach/teammate: he channels his anger into his game. Raising it up a notch when you're pushed is by definition the opposite of soft, and that's why this thread is so r****ded.
You never know. Players respond differently when they read criticism. Great players tend to take their game to another level when they are criticized while bad/decent players just brush it off.
Blinebury/Feigen/etc. have been writing about T-Mac's problems for years. If T-Mac's aware of any criticism it's through these guys, not a bunch of posts on an internet forum. Posting here is for fans to talk to fans. It's delusional to think otherwise.
What more do you want the guy to do?? Name any other center who can create his OWN shot, who draws DOUBLE AND TRIPLE teams, gets FRONTED every game, who will average between 22-25 ppg for a season, 11 rpg, 2.6 bpg, 2 apg, and not to mention, he won't miss a game unless if he has a constant bleeding toe after every game or a broken bone (the guy is tough as nails), he doesn't get the calls that TD, KG, DH12, or that softie Amare gets, AND on top of ALL of that, he plays basketball ALL YEAR LONG!!! The man doesn't even get to rest his body after a season and playoffs!! Can you name ONE center or big man that does all of that, plus with the pressure of 2 billion people watching his EVERY move and listening to EVERY word he says!!??
i've been critical of yao as well. but you're insane. he has his flaws, but your post really is just out of line. every team in the league would love to have yao. all the rockets would have to do is put him on the block and you'd see 29 teams calling. and i'd trust those gms over you any day of the week.
I was frustrated at Yao too. But to be fair, this should've been a DNP. Of course, what with Yao being so soft, he had to play.
after a win to bulls I came in to cheer up and the first I saw is this ****ing thread still on the page. wtf
You can't have a good game every night. The important thing is that we have two allstars and that means one is likely to have a good night even if the other doesn't. Then again, you have both Mcgrady and Yao show up to beat the Hornets by 20. Or both Yao and Mcgrady don't show up and still beat teams like Cleveland. (role players stepped up).
I don't think we should trade him...thats a little extreme ...he has been very inconsistent this past month....I know you are going to say, "Oh, but were winning!"..I know we are but his play will determine how strong our team is...he is our main low post player and he has stunk it up on both ends....May be just like you guys mentioned...give him a day off...but what is the excuse going to be next time....
He's only "soft" when he's really tired and winded. It's hard to bull through all those non calls when you've got no energy.
