Just wanted to share my encounter with Battier with everyone...

Last night around 12:30am, I went to Ibizza, a restaurant/bar in midtown, with a bunch of people. My boyfriend tells me to turn around and look. I turned. It was kind of dark but I recognized him sitting down in an area, having a beer. I thought to myself that I wasn't going to pass up the chance to meet him. He didn't seem like one of those NBA players that are a**holes. What was the least thing he could have done? Ignore me? I could take that. Anyway, my boyfriend and I went up to him. I really didn't know what to say to him because I was so nervous. I just said hello and stuck my hand out. He reached out and shook my hand and gave me one of his trademark smiles. I just gave him a thumbs up to say the Rockets are doing very well. We left him alone. Later, I recognized the guys who were with them. I wasn't even paying attention to them in the beginning. They were Kirk Hinrich, Drew Gooden and Chris Duhon. Out of all nights, I forgot to bring my camera!!

He certainly earned my respect as a human being. Very nice.

What a weekend for me as a Rockets fan! First, the blow out game vs Hornets and the Battier encounter!!

Plus, he is handsome in person!!!!! :D :D

At least you didn't say something offensive about the Bulls before you recognized them.. like "Be careful tomorrow, I know those Bulls are a bunch of horrible no-talent hacks but it can be a trap game."

Duhon's a Dukie, and he probably just brought the others along.

If Joakim Noah had been there, you could've slapped him for being even more ratlike than Pau Gasol.

You must've been really nervous if Drew Gooden's beard didn't give him away haha.

LOL, his back was facing me so I didn't know. In fact, he was the one that tipped me off when he turned around. That's when I was like "ohh ain't that Drew Gooden?" then I looked closer to other Bulls players.

Shane Battier definitely seems like a nice and approachable person. I actually lived in Memphis for a short while when he was with the Grizz. Lot of my friends would run into him around town, and he was always receptive to the fans. On a side note, I met Gasol a few times at the clubs over there too, and he was pretty cool also. Maybe its a Grizz thing.

Can't develop huge egos when nobody give a rat's ass about the Grizz, right?

    You should have yelled:

    WHO'S YOUR DADDY BATTIER!

If I'm drunk and I see Battier, I'm doing it.

    Difference between Lady_Di and me:

Shane Battier's smile turns Lady_Di on.

Shane Battier locking down Peja turns me on.
