How about Brent Barry? I think he was a backup point guard in Seattle years ago. He's also been injured for a while now and has missed a whole chunk of the season. Mike James + Luther Head works salarywise for Barry. Tony Parker's injury problems might also weigh into taking on James?
Hey Dave, love the show, but get tired of the hosts saying come on Clutchfans.....you are getting beat by Longhorn nation etc... If they want more participation, do it on another day other than Sunday at 9am..... I think it is cool but honestly the time slot is a difficult one to say the least. And Sir Jackie Chiles speaks very well for someone from Germany. All time Rocket dunkers......hands down Bill Willoughby. DD
The Rox just ran the streak to 11. They are HOTHOTHOT. The Rox just 'tweaked' this year's roster. Essentially Bonzi for Bobby Jax. Q: Has the 'streak' (or timing thereof) deluded the powers that be that this team is a power to be...reckoned with or is this team a power right now, to be...reckoned with deep into the spring? Follow up Q: Could they/should they have done 'more'? Could they have had Artest for expirings + Brooks (and a #1?)? If they had, would it have been a good move? What would it have meant for Battier et al? Thanks...x...
xiki -- thanks for the post. There is a chance Rockets GM Daryl Morey will be on tomorrow. I don't know if it will be during our show or before or after ... if I hear beforehand, I'll try to post it here. Also, they are doing a type of mock Oscars, handing out 1560 awards. I don't know much about it, if we get to vote on some of that, etc. The number to call in and talk Rockets on the show is 713-439-1560. It's great to actually talk with some of you about the team. If you can't call and would like to have topics discussed on the show tomorrow, please feel free to post them here - host David Nuño will generally cite your BBS handle and topic/question on the air. You can also watch on http://www.1560.tv/. Thanks ...
The last few games, T-Mac has seemed to post up smaller guards more often than before. Is this something they have been working on and will have more of this season? It just seems with his size, his lift on the jump shot, and his fakes he should utilize this part of his game a bit more often.
Thanks...stuck with week-end guests, sheesh - brother and sister-in-law and they just don't "get" the Rockets. My son and I try to explain, but they're NYers...whaddu they know???
Lots to talk about this week. If Morey's going to be on you have to ask him how the Brent Barry meeting went, if they have back-up options, what they like about this Bobby Jones character. But I guess the best thing to talk about would be the popular topic on the forum, how far the Rockets can go. Can they be a 1 seed? Would you even want them to be a 1 seed? Who would you hope to see the Rockets face in the first round? As usual I'll be listening to the podcast in North Carolina, cheers.
How about Roger Federer? I always thought that he was the perfect example of how in a man's case, money, fame, and power (and athleticism) can completely outweigh being on the losing end of the gene pool. I'm sure many women find him "dreamy", but I'm convinced that if he were an avg joe on the street he would be u-u-u-ugly! Like Tweeg ugly from the old Teddy Ruxpin (is that how you spell it? God it's been a long time) stuffed bear stories. You know, the guy who was trying to turn butter into gold...ok I'll stop talking now.
What do yo thing beating OC-hornets means? Just another win or do you think it makes us more legit for a good playoff push? It was all Rockets in that game, although the AP claims it was just an off night by the Hornets. Do you think the TMAC of the Mav's series is back? He has been pretty damn good the last few games. Especially the last game, where he showed that his recent injury no longer has any place in his current game. Tracy has looked like his old self lately. the Rocket have been RED HOT. I hope they can keep it up, I'll try my best to wake up to listen to the show but it is pretty late right now.
What's your take on the point guard position? What do you think Jackson will bring to the team? Obviously we'll have to see, but do you feel that the Alston-Jackson PG tandem will be enough for a playoff run? And what does this mean for Brooks for this year? If there aren't going to be many minutes for him, should he be sent down to the D-League to work on his game? Thanks, Clutch.
Oh and one more. If you think the PG spot's shored up now, what do you think is this team's biggest weakness, its biggest obstacle to becoming truly elite, if it has one?
Did they know prior to the draft that Landry can become this athletic? He's become what Stromile Swift was supposed to be when the Rockets signed Swift as an FA.
Oops, didn't realize you already talked about the trade. But I'd still like to ask if you think the Alston-Jackson PG tandem will be enough for a playoff run, and what how the team should develop Brooks.
Clutch, I would like to know... 1. If Brent Barry signs elsewhere is there any interest in bringing back Mike Harris? 2. How has Adelman's hands off approach helped mold the team? For example JVG led from the bench, but it looks like Adelman has forced the team to find a leader on the floor, and is the team finally Yao's team? 3. How hard will it be for the Rockets to resign Carl Landry? Will they have to use a portion of their MLE on him? 4. Being only 3 games out of first place in the conference and division, where do you think they will end up? I may call in, but I will have to discuss V-Span... Thanks, DD
