now i'm craving a CFS something fierce. somebody give me a solid CFS joint in uptown area.... besides hickory hollow.
Not sure if they serve it at lunch...but waiting til tonight would be worth it. http://www.ouisiestable.com/menudinner.aspx
That place was badass. 2.99 for the chicken fried steak dinner. That was the best deall in fast food hands down. Then, as if it wasn't great enough, they started offering it for 1.99 on wednesdays. Man, I miss that place.
ha, u mustve loved it too when its your 3rd post in 6 years Luby's is good also, and also wanted to throw in Kelly's Country Cookin also. Black Eyed Peas used to be good, but they started to put too much batter and barely any meat.
that's the old Confederate Grille, right? btw, i ended up going to hickory hollow... i enjoyed it thoroughly. i remember being disappointed the last time i had it there, but this one was seasoned well, had a tasty and crispy crust, and good gravy (although it's a little citrusy for me). i've had the venison cfs from ouisies and it is indeed delicious.
carriage house up on northside. worth the drive. the houston press just wrote a positive review about their CFS a few weeks ago. the ambiance is great too, straight out of the old west. http://www.houstonpress.com/2008-02-14/dining/ghost-town-cfs-carriage-house-cafe/full
No way man. Grandy's kicked all kinds of ass with their CFS. Take a couple them rolls they had and sop up all the gravy.... Man I miss that place.
chicken fried steak is so awesome that it's pretty much impossible to suck provided the cook isn't a complete idiot. everybody ftw!
If you make it up to Austin, check out Hoover's, just east of I-35 on Manor. Terrific chicken fried steak. Huge piece that makes me think half will come home for a sandwich, but I end up cleaning my plate. Great sides. Had the best butter beans I've munched on in a couple of years there, the day before yesterday. Good gravy.
Yep, that's the place. Haven't had the ribeye...sound great. Did you notice if/when HH has bluegrass night(s)? Last cfs I had there was too little meat, too much breading. They deserve another shot...but there's 20lbs of venison steaks in the freezer that make it difficult to order a one at a restaurant.
