i wanted him fired. some of the early losses were SO ugly i just couldn't handle it. (cmon admit that you were at least pissed) i asked for van gundy to come back. at the time all i could think about was this team being one win (even a one minute stretch!) away from the second round of the playoffs. but with rockets being one of the hottest teams in the league right now, i have to come out and say i underestimated him. this team looks STELLAR. he's gotten this team to buy in. it took some time, but it's working. and we're seeing it in the way this team is playing. a few highlights: he guides us to one of the longest winning streaks this team has had in the past 10 years. no small feat he has been instrumental in developing both landry, scola, and brooks. this would NEVER have happened under JVG he has gotten this team's stagnet offense working in a rythym. another JVG weakness what other amazing highlights am i forgetting? anyway, just wanted to publicly say i was wrong... moving on.
I doubted at first. He's a much better improvement than the advertised offense (which hasn't been that good) I'm feelin' good about this game.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH....well at least you came out. Everyone else is gonna pretend they never said anything. And whatabout everyone saying let's tank after that Detroit loss? I will never forget that crap. Congrats for coming out.
I'm glad I supported Adelman from the beginning. All of you can bow down to me now! hahahaha (just kidding)
being cynical again huh rox are the second best defensive team and you know it's not just because of JVG
Hey you still might be right. He ain't proven anything yet. This is the regular season. I have to stick that in for the Adelman haters.
great win, but spreading shooting chances and inspiring wing players are also important in the post season. we need horrylike players and who can be?
You beat me to it. I supported him 100% from the begining...thru the 6-1 start and the 6 game losing streak and beyond.
Adelman sucks. If JVG is still coaching this team, the record should be 55-0. And the Rockets are looking for 3-peat..... I mean the 3rd 1st round playoff exit.
Would have been 4th actually. He has already been booted 3 times in the first round as Rockets head coach.
His offense has been a disappointment this year. Maybe it will work better next year. His real contribution has been giving opportunities to younger guys. The supporting cast is better this year, but Adelman gets a lot of credit for working out this rotation.
Calm down. We aren't passed the 1st round yet. I hate when people do this all the time, overreact after a game.
There are definitely certain things Adelman has done that Ive been impressed with... namely, his incorporation of the rookies (Landry, Scola, Brooks) into the rotation, and his willingness to abandon his "Yao should be in the high post and shoot 22 footers" mantra that he was having Yao struggle in to start the season. The latter point more or less indicates his ability to do what all good coaches do... change your style to fit the team you have, not vice versa. At the same time, I'm not going to throw JVG under the bus. This team has far more talent than any of the past years' teams, and while we all know JVG is reluctant to play rookies, Scola almost certainly would have piqued his interest given his international experiance. However, the most vital aspect of this team, and this team's future chances, is Adelman's ability to motivate T-mac to be the type of animal who wants to win it all. JVG, as much as some of you hate him, was a MASTER at this. The T-mac you saw in 2004-2005 was a product of him finally having a coach who could tap directly into his heart and help elevate his game to heights he hadn't seen before. (Combine that with T-mac being in the best physical condition that he wil liekly ever be in, = what we saw vs. Dallas). Earlier this year (hell, even as of 2 weeks ago), I had doubts about this team because of the way T-mac was struggling. I know the team had enough to beat the also-rans of the NBA even with T-mac not playing well, but the long-run prognosis isn't good if T-mac doesn't start contributing at a high level. Tonight's game was a breath of fresh air... and is a key indicator of possible future success. T-mac is the ultimate "confidence" player... meaning regardless of how he is physically, if he has confidence he dominates, if he doesn't he struggles. If its Adelman who has been able to find his way to tap into T-mac's inner psyche and help him find himself, all credit due to him. If T-mac has taken it upon himself to take a look around him, and see Kobe, Lebron, and Wade leaving him in the dust... and gain some inner pride to show the world that he still belongs on that same level... credit goes to him as well.
On pace (with huge streak) to win either the same or less games than last year where Yao broke his leg. Much more talent, healthy TMac, huge improvement on the 4 spot (JHo anyone?), did you really give him props for "developing" scola? or "developing" Landry ( i guess if benching him for half a season is developing him, when he comes off during some garbage time and throws his talent in your face its to hard to ignore) If he does not win 52 games he gets a F for the regular season, he needs to win a playoff series
