Gasoled would be expirings, one mediocre young talent, and picks. Potentially if Francis stays with us and we get Hayes or someone else on a deal with a team option for the second year and we re-sign Gerald Green, we could have right around $15 mill of expiring deals. Potential Gasolling candidates: 1. The whole Knicks team, but who would want them. 2. Vince Carter 3. Mike Miller-we could conceivably do the mike miller/brian cardinal deal during the offseason. 4. Mike Dunleavy-Indy is stuck in mediocrity, if they unload Jermaine, it may be time to tear it all down. Dunleavy could be a valuable pick up. 5. Mobley 6. Maggette in a sign and trade for expirings plus Head and a draft pick?? 7. Artest in a sign and trade for expirings plus Head plus draft picks???? 8. T. J. Ford 9. Joe Johnson-If Atl doesn't turn the corner, he could decide he wants out and they could decide they want him gone. 10. Michael Redd-obviously 11. Ben Gordon 12. Caron Butler-if Gilbert opts out 13. Ben Wallace-if it don't work in cleveland ----------------- ----------------- Other possibilities: Taking Darius Miles off Portland's hands in exchange for our expirings, getting Sergio Rodriguez or Martell Webster and Portlands lottery pick.
I'd absolutely kill to have Jefferson on this team. I don't think the Nets would give him up though, it seems logical to build around him.
potential candidate to be gasoled: tmac. the rockets are $11M over the cap after cutting some salary at the deadline. with bobby jackson and steve frances coming off the cap in summer '09 the rockets can put themselves in a possition to be a player in the awesome FA pool that is summer '09 by moving tmac for endings and putting themselves about $18M under the cap. or... use the expirings to bring in a guy like redd AND move tmac for endings. still make the playoffs AND have about $8M under the cap to bring in a 3rd star.
I don't think so. It belongs here and, more importantly, if this were in the GARM, it'd be lost in the chatter. Good thread. I'm not used to having a GM who not only speaks in plain English to the press, but methodically plans for the future. I'm very impressed that he didn't deal our young guys. We actually have developing talent, markers to play with after the season, and a coach who'll use that young talent. Very groovy when compared to parts of our past.
I'm too excited with our pf situation right now to mess with bringing in Jamison. Don't think he's at his most effective at sf either. If we were to use expirings to nab a player, I hope it'd be a pg or stud sg/sf.
I don't know, but someone mentioned peja. Im not sure how old he is, and if N.O would trade a strong player to a division rival, but the thought of Peja being reunited with adelman, where he had his best years....him making strong cuts but more importantly dropping 3's....ahh.
I still think Arest or Mike Miller is the best fit here. That is.......unless Baron Davis comes available, which is highly unlikely.
not so much a Gasol-like gift, but still a good get for the Rox. either Charlie V. or Jilian Yi; Cheese-head town is not BIG enough for the both of them. one of them has to go.
LT will be around $70.5M next season. Rockets will have a team salary around $67.25M not including Landry or Green plus two open roster spots. So roughly Rockets have $3M to divide between Landry, Green, a backup center and a 15th man. Rafer Jackson Brooks Francis McGrady Head Battier Novak (open/Green) Scola Hayes (open/Landry) Yao (open) (open) IMO there won't be a another "Gasol" type next season maybe the one after with LeBron on the market that free agency class is meant to be deep. However for next season... If the Suns don't win it all they might seriously consider a retool either one for the future or everything in to win. McGrady+Brooks+Hayes for Nash+Diaw+1st round pick (They seem to like trading these away) McGrady+Shaq expire at the same time coincidently when LeBron is available. Well, they want to be teammates don't they? Shaq and McGrady that is. The Suns were supposedly high on Brooks in the draft. Anyhow, it rids the Suns of Diaw's bad contract, but at the same time cuts 2.75M from the Rockets team salary. In total that makes available 5.75M for re-signing Landry.
if this team could get a above average PG the sky would be the limit. seriously tmac yao battier another year for landry and scola. arenas or baron davis someone like that. you have battier taking care of D on the best player of the other team every game. leaving tmac and said PG to left to share PG duties and focus on scoring. yao would not have to score quite as much and could focus even more in Defense. im not sure i would put kurt henrich in the league of baron davis or gilbert arenas. and i would not want AI on this team. if we didnt get a pg you would want probably a sg. as tmac is going to get a little slower every year. would not want redd dont think morey would either. i think joe johnson could flourish here. i guess im having wishful thinking. i dont just want a decent player to come in and help yao and tmac. i want a 3rd star.
