This Hawks game was just incredible, imo.

The Rockets will have a top 5 pick, because they simply know how to lose in too many ways for other teams to compete. They can shoot like garbage from the field, or blow their free throws, or play terrible defense, shoot under 20% from the 3-point line, or give the ball away.

These Rockets are skilled players. They can get a 25-10-9 performace from their stud PG, 26-5 from their solid SG, 16-9-4 from their 19 year old PF, 8-10 from their erratic center, have the other team's best player thrown out in the 3rd, and STILL lose. INCREDIBLE.

    4-21 from 3 point land.
    19 turnovers.

    Pitiful.

This team is clearly a work in progress. They still aren't playing mismatches. They are still very inconsistent. They got good looks from 3 point land, but didn't hit. They managed to stroke at 56.6% from inside the arc. They need to stop forcing the action.

So, um, uh....Yao Ming here we come?

Can Drew Gooden play center in the NBA?? Because Ming may be alot of hype like the Chinese dude for Dallas. I saw him play a couple of nights ago and he is slow and an average defender.

The eractic style of play this Rocket team plays is just eractic, they can get 10 lottery picks in the draft but if this one-on-one, selfish ballhoging, turnover laden, no defensive style of play doesn't change, the Rockets won't be successful. The Rockets have been playing a horrible brand of basketball.

Even though Steve had a great game stats wise, I was unhappy with the way he was forcing it at times. He made various turnovers forcing the issue when nothing was there. I love Steve and all but he has a lot to learn. This team just doesn't have what it takes to be one of the better teams in the NBA and even though I'm a huge Rockets fan, it's really hard watching their horrible style of basketball right now.

    These guys drive me crazy.

It was business again as usual for the them Rockets. They play great basketball just long enough to let us fans know that they can, and then they self lobotomize themselves for just long enough to lose the game.

If I drank beer, I'd want to cry in one right now.

we must be misreading your post Lil Francis...you saw the dude from Dallas play or Yao Ming?

I saw footage of Yao Ming recently and have seen the Dallas dude play and IMHO... and comparing the two is like comparing a Jeep Cherokee to a Lexus 400 (Yao Ming being the Lexus). Jeep is okay, but it rattles and is not smooth...

Yao is about 5 inches taller, can move with the ball, better defender, can run the floor better and actually has post moves already.

It was their 5th game in 7 days, on the road. You guys expect too much from this team. 3 of their starters wouldn't start for most NBA teams.

Fifth game in seven days? So what? This team is supposed to have young and fresh legs. They shouldn't be that tired since they don't exert themselves in most games anyway. That is no excuse.

Freak-the Hawks weren't exactly injury free. They're missing Theo Ratliff, Toni Kukoc, Alan Henderson, and Emanual Davis, as well as Chris Crawford.

They built their lead in the 4th quarter, literally without their frontline: Ratliff-SAR-Kukoc.

Serious adjustments need to be made.

Yeah but he is not playing the best players. I may be wrong about him but he seems too much like a project. I want the Rockets to get Gooden or trade the pick and land a 3 (Lewis or Odom)

    How about this:

Eddie Griffin and Kenny Thomas for Lamar Odom and Michael Olowokandi?

To answer Lil's question about Gooden, I really don't think he could handle the 5 for big time minutes, but if we are talking about him being a center in the same respect we talk about EG playing center, then I guess he could. His frame is a little more solid than Eddie's, but he is by no means built for center. I see him as a decent player in the league, but not a star--think Joe Smith, without the nappy fro. I'd much rather gamble on Ming (if we somehow manage that high a pick) than take a player in Gooden that would make us redundant at that 4-5 tweener position, especially when we have a guy in EG who will be a much better player in the long run.
