What a brilliant charge led by Francis at the end of the 4th quarter! Down 13 with 5:40 left in the game! Despite the multiple attempts by Hawks secret agent in Rockets uniform, Moochie Norris, to blow the game with horrible shots and ridiculous turnovers in the 4th, Francis' scoring as well as penetrating to get others good shots could not be denied. Francis led the Rockets back to within 2 with under a minute to go, before an unfortunate tip by Nazr Mohammed, who had a huge game, to put the Hawks up 4 by 34.1. Then another brilliant drive, drawing Mohammed, Terry and Glover, allowing Cato to easily tip in the miss with 26.4 seeconds left to make it 91-89 Hawks. Unfortunately 55% free throw shooter Mark Strickland was fouled and made both free throws. Griffin would unfortunately miss a 3, but Nazr would go 1 for 2 from the line. Francis would then score again on a nice reverse with 10 seconds left. With no timeouts left though it was over though as Terry just needed 1 of 2 free throws to put the Hawks up 4 with 10 seconds. The 13 point deficit with 5:40 left was just a little too much to overcome, but still a brilliant run down the stretch. Francis finished 1 reb short of another triple double with 25 pts, 10 assts, 9 rebs. Moochie Norris provided 25 wasted minutes with 3 points and 2 fouls...
Eddie Griffin was amazing. He was charged with 4blks but he changed like 15shots today not to mention his hustle and outside shot. He and Francis are the only reason I still watch the games this year because this team is awful.
Yep. Eddie and Francis played excellent as usual. Mobley was playing excellent the first 3 quarters as well, but he let Dion Glover get into his head, and had a very poor 4th quarter.
Kenny Thomas made some bad passes in this game and it seems like everytime Torres gets the ball he steps out of bounds.
I dunno, but do you guys think that maybe our guards need to do a better job of kicking it back out to Griffin after he sets the pick? He seems to get open ALOT, but doesn't get the ball too often. He can hit that 3 pretty consistently.
I noticed from the box score that Steve and Mobley between them took more than half the shots for the team. They both had good percentages. However, in the overall scheme of things, of getting balanced scoring and everybody involved, I don't think a team can achieve a high degree of success with the guards taking most of the shots. I'm sure most of the shots they took were jumpers and they wound up losing even when they hit a good percentage. Many times they won't hit as well as they did today. I wish I knew that Rudy had some kind of team goal in mind that is more consistent that dribbling, jump-shooting guards.
I just hope Rudy doesen't put Walt back in the starting lineup when he returns from IR. Let Eddie pad his stats.
I vowed to be through with this season if Rudy but Eddie back on the bench in favor of Walt. That would be the most pathetic move of the season. If Rudy does that, I would lose what little respect I have left for him.
Dion Glover impressed me a lot this year. If he could play under control more, he could be a solid 2.
Since Torres is a F.A. at the end of the season what do you all think of signing Michael Redd to back up Cat and play a little 3? He would be nice to have off our bench.
