Gerald Green should know better, since he is from Houston! Look at how it destroyed every rocket's career that was from Houston. It destroyed Hakeem's career.
So it's like we got Bobby and Green for Bonzi and Snyder and James' contract. Only good thing out of this trade was we got rid of James' contract.
Yeah because Kirk Snyder was REALLY helping us win by being on the bench Learn something about this before you comment out of your ass
man about time we drafted someone who'll be fun to watch!!!. Someone who will actually slam the ball down the hoop instead of the wussy lay ins!
seriously, all he is, is a dunker last year when boston played the rox he was shooting 1 for 19... i like him, but his game isn't at all great i think brent barry would be so awesome!!
Didn't Morey work for the Celtics when Green was drafted? He should be fairly familiar with this kid. Check out his boxscores from last year with the Celtics when he got more playing time. He had some very very impressive games. The potential is definitely there. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/playerGame...eason=2006
Forgive me if this issue has already been discussed, but I didn't read all 24 pages of this thread. Reading Green's bio it says he didn't play basketball his freshman or sophmore year at Dobie, then made the varsity squad in his junior year only to be cut because of academic issues. He then transferred to Gulf Shores where he repeated his junior year, then played there his senior year and then entered the NBA draft. Does anybody know why he didn't play at Dobie his freshman and sophmore years? Did he just hit a growth and athletic spurt and turn into a Mc Donald's All American after only playing 2 years of high school ball? Or did he not play because he didn't like coaches or was academically ineligible or some other reasons? I was listening to one of the local stations this afternoon and they danced around his past. Anybody know the story?
I agree with this. He averaged over 10 points a game playing limited minutes as a 20-21 year old. He supposedly has a good jumper. I checked out his shooting on the nba.com hotzones for 2006-2007. He could hit a midrange jumper around 45% that year and hitting 3's well from the corners. I think he's sucking this year do to a bad team and getting inconsistent minutes. I think Morey knew what he was doing here. At worst, Green is a flameout but there was no risk. He looks like he could already be a good off-the-bench scorer. We've seen with Landry how well dunkers can do in this offense with Tmac and Yao drawing double teams. I bet he plays little this year (I mean he obviously needs a lot of work), but not just because he's no good. I think it's to keep his value low so we can resign him on the cheap. That's if he shows us something in practice, of course.
Actually I was referring to the Bonzi+Mj trade. I was hoping there was more to it, and that trading away a whole lot of talent (face it, Bonzi >>>>>>>>> bobby jackson by himself, especially during the playoffs). I was hoping that this was a precursor to a mike miller trade. Instead, Morey goes out and gets a guy who is only known for winning dunk championships. His game is raw. He's not an intelligent ballplayer. He looks lost on defense, turns it over at very inopportune times, and is (reputedly) a slacker. When coupled with the earlier salary dump trade, it's clear that the whole purpose of the deadline trades were to increase the profitability of the Rockets. You think Gerald Green is actually going to get time? He couldn't even get time in Minnie. The only reason for picking him up is the name draw, i.e. he's an exciting player because he won the dunk contest. Please, don't be naive. Green is hardly a good player. I won't say he's a complete bust because he COULD turn it around given his athleticism. But Snyder was athletic too. Snyder had potential. But look at him, he got 0 playing time.
Well, after calming down from all the trades, I think this is a decent trade now. Kirk was just rotting on our bench anyways. Low risk, high reward
