Gerald Green still is young to develop. This is the best thing for him to come back home, he will want to try his hardest for his family. If he fails ... so what. U gotta take risks and i love this one. Oh and the dude that said play small ball with Green. He is taller than Tmac so dont think its small with him lol.
THe Twolves are all about upside. THey are rebuilding, so they would not give up upside. THey watch him every day in practice. So did Boston. If he had any upside, they would not give him up. His upside is that he can bring a dunk championship to Houston. Tmac and Kobe were ripping up the league when they were 21. The only thing Green has in common with Tmac, is they like Houston.
Welcome home GG i know many people aren't too happy with the GG trade but there isn't much we can do about them but to hope the management knows more than we do. That being said, lets hope for the best from Gerald Green. Ill be seeing you on espn highlights. WELCOME HOME BABY!!!
Landry and Green are the same exact size. Carl averages 2 more points and one more rebound with 1 more minute played per game. If we like Landry, we'll probably like Gerald Green too. In Morey I trust.
these trades aren't about 2007/2008 season. the WC is definitely challenging this year, so the long term view isn't entirely inappropriate. bad taste in my mouth though, the hottest team in the NBA threw in the towel.
Oh ya thats right... Chauncey Billups was given up on alot during his career with upside but somehow ended up winning finals MVP. Not saying this would happen with him but the risk is very good to take. He is more athletic than probably any rocket that has ever played here! Let him learn a couple things, who knows he might become a decent player. He has a good shot... just needs to get his mind right.
Same things being said about Green were the same thing being said about T-Mac when he first entered the NBA. He went HOME to Florida and set the NBA on fire. Let's give Green a chance.
What realistic trade did you have in mind that would have made us the favorites in the West? Maybe we could have gotten Artest, but it looks like Denver's offer is better than ours. I like Artest, but he doesn't put us over the top. Yes, other teams have made dramatic moves, but there's no guarantee in the West for any of them. Outside of LA swindling Memphis for Pau, I don't know that the other big moves are gonna pay off for the other contenders. I would argue that the teams that made small or no moves (Deteroit, Boston, San Antonio) all have better odds of making it to the Finals than the big deal teams. Our best option lies in building on what we have. Keep T-Mac and Yao healthy. Incorporate Scola into the offense more. Get Rafer to play consistently, which he has done during the win-streak. Keep playing tough defense. If we take care of business, we can go to war with any of the West contenders. And most of all, quit your crying!
morey was behind the pick of green in boston i trust him after seeing what he did with the picks in houston. remember how CD was trying his best to trade up to get green that year??? we didnt give up anyone of note to get green its a good move and could pay off. i'll give green a chance the kid has played on some terrible teams with some terrible coaches (yeah i dont like doc rivers as a coach he lucked out with the big 3 and the terrible east) this is the first time he has been on a team that has real talent and a real coach with a winning culture (all of green's teams have been the worst teams in the league) and guess what? its in his HOMETOWN...if this doesnt motivate the kid i am not sure what will. hopefully he'll get some time Adeleman has been good on giving everyone a chance and he does bring some depth, size and athleticism in the backcourt bottom line I trust Morey in that he is doing everything he can to better the team now and have room to get even better for the future
Everyone is saying that 2 teams gave up on him, but that is not the case! Fot the Celtics last year he averaged 10.2 ppg and played 81 games. They didn't give up on him, they traded him for KG. When you average 10 points a game at 20 yeasr old there is something there. People be patient. He will come around!
WHY would you not be happy with it, either you could care less or your ecstatic just because he's an exciting player with possible potential haha. There's no reason AT ALL to dislike this trade, snyder wasn't doing anything for us, and we just got an extra 2nd round pick out of the other deal.
I definitely don't think they threw in the towel. Adelman got a PG(Jackson) that he is familiar with and knows his system probably better than anyone. He also happened to get some cap relief.
Gerald's 10.5 points, 2.6 ebounds and 42% shooting in 22 minutes last year weren't exactly horrible. I think we could have a top flight young backcourt in a couple of years with Brooks/Green.
