This is the proposed Rays' baseball stadium. I hope they do build it, I love the design theme, it's pretty unique... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/ml...quantum-leap-in-ballpark-design?urn=mlb,67665 And here are photos of the proposed stadium: http://www.sptimes.com/2007/webspecials07/photo_galleries/newballparkgallery/index.shtml
Sooooo...they could play when it rains? That doesn't look like it totally covers the field, unless I'm missing something. Beautiful, though.
That is really beautiful. It reminds me a little of my favorite stadium, where the Royals play, and a little of the Sydney Opera House.
It doubles as Noah's Arc...so yes. Silly details, stop over-analyzing everything. It looks good, so I am sure it will be fine....
Sweet! I want to see a game at every major league ballpark (so far I've seen about 20), but wasn't sure if I'd ever get enough interest to see the Rays and their crappy current park. If that's the park they're building I'll go the first year it opens!
Man no one in Tampa supports that team. I don't see the tax payers putting up the doe for that stadium. It is beautiful, but I do recall seeing a picture I think in SI where they took a picture of a day game in which there was probably 200 people in attendance. By the way Tampa was 2nd to last in attendance last year only slightly edging out their Florida brother the Marlins. 29 Tampa Bay 81 1,389,031 17,148 40.7 81 31,591 68.2 162 24,370 55.1
It reminds me of the Sydney Olympic Stadium....in a bad way. I always think the Olympic Stadium looked great when it was a concept drawing, but as far as actually being used to watch sports events at, its just not up to the same standard as a lot of modern day stadiums are these days. The seats are not close enough to the playing surface. The best stadiums, fans are right on top of the action in stands that are at a bit of a steep angle. Like the Sydney Olympic Stadium, the seating in this baseball stadium looks laid too far back. I hope I'm wrong, most of the stadiums you build over there are top class in that area.
