BB, I believe that you are being a bit too harsh in your reaction to this trade. Does this elevate them to the level of a PHX, LA, or SA (notice I didn't include Dallas)? No, but it doesn't kill their playoff chances either which are still quite good. Bonzi's playing time was dwindling as Landry & Scola both started elevating their play. Scola's a much better player all-around and Landry is showing some pretty impressive skills espcially on offense. Bonzi was basically a one-trick pony out there who did not possess the athleticism of those two. The key is Bobby Jackson who showed me last night that he can still play (for those who missed it, Jackson dropped 17 points on the Mark Cubans last night). He gives you both experience as the backup PG and good scoring. Plus, he's played for Adelman so he knows the system. I have no problem with exchanging him for Bonzi who was one of my least favorite guys on the team anyway.

The BIG question to ask is why they signed Mike James in the first place. He was coming off an absolutely dismal season in Minny and continued to suck here and everyone acted surprised that he sucked. Same thing with Francis who hardly distinguished himself in his years away from Houston. It's the deals like those that hurt more than any trade. So relax, they are still on pace to make the playoffs. Once there, it will be up to Yao & Tmac to carry them because those are the two big dogs and how well they play in the playoffs will be the determining factor in this team's playoff success.

Up to Yao and Mac to carry us?

I think I've already seen that movie.

This trade might make the Rockets slightly weaker at the moment but getting Mike James off the books for the next several years should be a BIG help.

And Jackson isn't just trash, he can put in some good minutes and make free throws.

Looks like this move is not part of a greater trade. Trading a proven playoff performer in Bonzi Wells to a division rival who you might play in the playoffs is a horrible move. I'm sure Mike James and Bonzi would be willing to divulge the entire Rockets playbook to NO. Looks like another first round exit! woohoo!

I was bored and thinking about the trade and I hope this isn't all the trades that management has planned so I played with trade machine and got this trade idea.

NO is happy they get a deeper bench
Sacramento gets a future point guard in AB, a young shooter in head and expiring contracts of synder and francis. Francis can then opt out of his player option and rejoin the rockets in the off season
Memphis is involved according to the chron and so it would be nice if they give up Navarro because they already have two young pg prospects and I highly doubt Navarro will come back after the season. To sweeten the deal we give them the 2nd round pick that NO originally gives us.

    Very nicely said.

It's interesting how over the last month everyone has been calling the radio shows and complaining about Bonzi shooting the ball so poorly and now you would think that their first born has been kidnapped after this trade.

Ok heres a run down of the minutes i could see each player getting

PG Rafer 37 minutes, Jackson 11 mins
SG Mcgrady 30 mins, Head 13 minutes, Jackson 5 minutes
SF Battier 37 minutes, Mcgrady 7 minutes, Landry 4 minutes
PF Scola 30 minutes, Landry 13 minutes, Chuck 5 minutes
C Yao 35 mins, Chuck 5 mins, Landry 8 minutes

    That is
    37 mins for Rafer
    37 for Tracy
    37 for Battier
    30 for Scola
    35 for Yao
    25 for Landry
    16 for Jackson
    13 for Head

Didn't he walk out of a practice session earlier this year because he was pissed off that he was completely out of the rotation?

And what's different about the practice he'd get now compared to the practicing he's, presumably, been doing all season.

Snyder's not happy here, he's let the media know that he wants to be traded. He should be obliged in that regard.

I'll ask it again. If Rafer had gotten hurt and we hadn't made this deal, what would our PG situation look like?

Yes, because Les is the only owner in the league who makes an effort to stay below the tax threshold.
    ...
    ...
    ...
...oh wait! Doesn't that comprise more than half the owners in the league?

Because Bonzi is gone. Bonzi is a better player. No one's disputing that. All I said was Snyder might be able to give us SOME of what Bonzi brought.

Deke's out of the rotation too. Does that mean he can't play? Does he suck all of a sudden? No. It just means there are better options right at the moment.

This is a terrible trade on 2k8. Bonzi and James are both ranked in the 80's.
