actually this trade does make sense if you look at it one way.

First, Morey may have figured that there is no way to improve this team right now since no one wanted our players.

Second, he might have concluded that with the upgrades other teams made we are not a contender no matter what we do.

Thus, it's then logical to start making moves that put us in a position for greater opportunity to get better in the off-season.

And this trade does that. But it's sad because it means we're giving up on contending this year. We are first round fodder, second if we get lucky.

LOL, u guys still don't get it. Bonzi Wells only cares about $$$ and he was leaving for sure in the offseason if he didn't get his $$$.[/B] There is no way we can sign Carl Landry or Bonzi with Mike James' burdensome contract during the offseason. Also, we get a veteran PG backup for Rafer - AB is still a rookie and you can see his inconsistency in the last month.

he hasn't shot over 40% from the field in 3 years. he isn't a great 3pt shooter. he is streaky. he does play hard and plays solid defense. but the dude is getting ready to be 35 and has missed far too many games the past few seasons.

I am pissed off like everyone else because this looks like a piggy bank deal for les.

From a basketball point of view however....

Bobby Jackson, when healthy is a competitor and plays big in big games. He has a little Sam Cassel in him. He does not back down from anyone. He can shoot from outside and when he gets hot, he makes some of the most ridiculous shots I have seen. He is also a very good finisher around the basket and does not shy away from contact. Believe it or not he is also a very pesky defender and can play the passing lanes. Big question is his health though.

The question is, is he worth giving up Bonzi? Bonzi comes to play in playoffs. Depending on the matchup, we might miss him dearly come playoff time. We might also lose some of the rebounding edge. Also, he had nice chemistry with our big men in the post.

Looks like it might come down to playoff matchup.

A sign that we need a new owner. Tilman Feritta better buy this team, maybe the fat greasy greek dude who owns Niko Nikos should invest some of his overpriced lamb shank profits into the Rockets and pay over the Lux Tax to get this team rolling.

Well, Mike James is a funny player. IIRC, James only played full seasons with Miami in his rookie year and 2nd year, with Toronto, with Minnesota; in other seasons, James always got traded before trade deadline.

Uh ... did you miss the part where we dump salary, bring in a veteran backup PG, and potentially free up an extra roster spot? And don't act like sole the difference between last year and this is Bonzi Wells. Losing him doesn't mean we're back to playing JVG-ball.

If you're more interested in turning this into a pro/anti Morey debate as opposed to talking about what the trade means for the team, then please do quit.

Obviously this move is made to bring in Mike Miller or Ron Artest. :D

I don't get the trade. We basically traded in my opinion our 6th man, who is a versatile swing man for a backup pg whose 35 years old. Who is going to backup Tmac or Battier at the 2 or 3 position? I know they don't plan on giving Snyder more minutes. Where is our swing guard? The Rockets need a Desmond Mason type player bad. Mike Miller sure would be nice.

    Yao/Deke
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Battier/Novak?/Snyder?
    Tmac/Head
    Alston/Jackson/Brooks

P.S. I'm sure the Rockets were excited about getting rid of Mike James contract, but come on.

One thing I see this trade immediately helping us is you have someone who historically and especially thriving under Adelman, providing us MUCH needed boost with perimeter shots and the 3 ball. He also is another instant offense guy off the bench.

Bobby Jackson isn't a scrub! Everybody take a deep breath and FART ... :p

Tomorrow, you'll see B Jax was a good pickup, not a great one but, could prove very much useful in the playoffs in keeping defenses honest.

Let's see what happens tomorrow before everyone starts jumping on the chase bank building downtown en masse. IMO disaster only happens if Artest lands in SA!

Stupid trade. I'll give it my 100% disapproval. We could have gotten much better for Bonzi than washed up Bobby Jackson.

Its also proven he is 35. This is like us signing Marc Jackson! Remember how that worked out?

Clutch doesn't think so and there are no signs of any follow-up moves.

There are about 12 hours (not counting the fact that people tend to sleep) before the trade deadline.

This is becoming an obvious salary dump to fatten Les' pockets. His non-basketball business was struggling mightily a few months ago so maybe he is trying to cut his overall losses.
