so he's like a better version of bobby sura..takes it to the rack. he only has to survive another 30-40 games this year. may not be that bad.

I guess you don't get what I mean. If what you said is the motive of the trade, it can be achieved easily without any detour, Just leave Wells where he was. then why all the fuss working Bonzi into rotation, etc, etc. After half a season, they suddenly want to revert to last year? Where's the vision in all this?

then I guess you will always willing to defend Morey, so I guess I'll quit.

The David Wesley trade didn't turn out good when it mattered. Wesley really didn't do anything in the playoffs.

    Good night guys.

Tonight Morey is scrambling. This trade does open up other options for us.

    1. possibility of sending BJax to either Sac or Memphis along with expirings and getting back Artest/Miller and Thomas/Cardinal.

    2. Possibility of a big deal with Seattle for Wally S. and Delonte.

    3. Possibility of a big deal with NJ for Vince Carter and possibly Marcus Williams.

    4. Possibility of nothing further besides adding some pure shooting in the form of Barry or some other released player.

    5. Possibility of trading Brooks (cringe) in a deal to get Artest. (Gag!)

    6. Possibility of trade involving at least Head and Snyder since we now have BJax to give us what Luther gave us.

guys, this could be a good trade. If you enjoy how rafer is playing than this won't be a bad trade? I know Rafer will be bad some days and those days BJAX will step in as a 3rd scorer.

Hated that trade too! Jim Jackson had balls, passion, physicality as did Nachbar. Both trades are horrible horrible horrible.

EDIT- whoa I posted this in a thread then it got merged with the mega thread and I was confused, disoriented, and scared.

*I was referring to the comparison with the JJ for D. Wes trade

Wesley is a joke. That trade was a joke. Some fans just like good guys. I'll take a dude with some talent and/or ferocity anyday over this crap:

He adds toughness when he's freaking on T-Mac and throwing him to the ground. He'll wait for T-Mac to be alone in the parking lot some day and bust a cap in him. There better be a followup trade after this.

Ahhh couldn't be any worse than Mad Max throwing a dumbell into the side of Carl Herrerra's head.

If i were a betting man I say Houston doesnt make the playoffs after this trade.

We give up our only real 3rd option...and I DO NOT see how this increases the minutes for Landry as he doesnt play the 1/2/3 and would still depend on Yao or Scola getting a breather...

Complete brain scratcher...oh wait. I forgot Les "Bleeding Money" Alexander is our owner.

Can we just throw in Snyder and James for Jackson and Butler. I think Bonzi will have high comodoty next season and my guess that Morey will not offer Wells jack!

That is how I feel right about now.....

So if Les's goal is to save money, should my goal be to save money and stop paying for games? I mean we are in a recession and s###....

I am confused with this deal

I am confused with this deal

I know it is risky, sometimes stupid, to jump to the conclusion too soon for a trade. However, I am really confused with this deal.

The first question is what our goal is. Are we in a win-now situation? Are we building for the mid-term? Or the salary management becomes our priority? Bonzi is never a 100% dedicated player, but he has talent that most of our role players don't have. As much as I respect Rafer and Shane, their tracking history in playoff is not beautiful at all. To the other end, Bonzi has proven himself in the playoff series.

Since T-mac is obviously in a down road for his body or his one-on-one skill, and Yao is 27, I would say a win-now attitude is our only option. If that is the case, the deal, with apparent salary dumping (MJ) priority, confuses me.

The second question coming to my mind is if the management is confident in our prospect this season. I am. In my opinion, Lakers is the only team with considerably better lineup than us for this season. With the trade of Kidd and improvement of role players (esp. our power forward position), we have a good chance against Sun, Mavs, Hornets, and Spurs.

Again my evaluation is Bonzi is a significant piece in playoff and a good match up especially against Spus. Maybe we don't have a good chance to extend the contract after this year. But we have to fight for this year first.

The third question is why Hornets. No matter how I dislike James, the addition of two veterans (especially Bonzi) gives them more depth and versatility that is to our disadvantage. I don't like it.

If there is no follow up deal (with several hours left it is very unlikely), I don't quite understand this deal. If salary dump or money management is the priority of owner, we fans would be very disappointed.

All being said, I don't want to conclude too early that Bobby can't help this team. His age and recent history does worry me though. Let's see what is going to happen and pray for the best.

We made this trade because Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks have stepped up their game and are part of the rotation, making Bonzi Wells expendable. You have to look at this from Morey's view:

    1) We get rid of Mike James and his burdensome contract. That frees up Morey to use Mike James' salary to attempt to get somebody else in the offseason.

    2) We can now use some of Mike James' salary to offer Carl Landry a contract during the offseason. In fact, we can use some of Mike James' salary to get Bonzi back.

    3) Brooks is a bit unreliable to backup Rafer. We get a veteran backup point guard now who knows Rick Adelman's system. Rick Adelman has confidence in Jackson.

    4) If Rick Adelman tightens his rotation, Bonzi Wells may not even get much playing time.

It was probably a good move in the longer run. Losing Bonzi will definitely hurt us, but look at the bright side - now that we dumped Mike James salary, we can possibly resign Bonzi wells during the offseason.

He was a large part of turning our regular season around at the time. Our chances of making the playoffs are still not cut-throat. Besides it's not like we were banking on D.Wesley to lead us deep into the playoffs just like if we're banking on Bjax to lead us then were Effed. I'm not happy as I'm one of Bonzi's biggest advocates. However, I'll give Bjax a shot.
