The Chronicle has finally come through and given the restrictions on our pick: From "Around the West" : The Warriors want a draft pick more even than a player. The Grizzlies cannot trade their own pick because the Pistons have the right to claim it if it is not in the top five. The Rockets owe the Grizzlies a first rounder this season or next from the Steve Francis deal. The Rockets must send their own pick or a pick that is within two slots of their own. So, our pick is ours if we wish to keep it. Making more sense of this, this is where the #15 came into play last year-that was 2 picks after our own (#13). Hopefully, this clears up any confusion about deadlines. No more draft pick questions.
i think jackson will be traded before the trade deadline, well before we are allowed to trade for him
Sigh, no we can't do that. We can't possibly trade for Marc Jackson till next year, it's illegal for Marc Jackson to be traded to us.
So, let's say the seaosn ended today. What draft picks would we have from ourselves and other people?
Your next mission, if you choose to take it, is to find out the conditions of the Chicago pick/picks for the Drew trade. What's the time frame for them repaying it? What are the conditions on the two second rounders if that's what we end up getting? I ask this, because the longer we wait the less value we'll have.
We'll have our first round pick, Toronto's first & second round picks, & I'm not sure what the time table is on the pick/picks that Chicago owes us for the Drew trade. They owe us a #1 pick (I believe it's a lottery protected pick) or two second round picks after a certain period of time. There's also a possibility of additional pick/picks from Dallas or New York as "other considerations" for the Rice trade, since he's injured & out for the year. I'm just guessing on this point, because no one knows for sure what is meant by "other considerations". It could just be cash.
Hottoddie : The Rocket's what will be champions again? lafadeaway33 : Could you please make that sig a bit bigger? Thanks guys.
If the season ended now we would have the 4th pick in the draft. What if the Rockets lucked up in the lottery and landed the #1 spot. Would you pass up a talent like Wagner and J-Dubb even though you have Cuttino in that slot? Wagner and Francis or Williams and Francis might be as deadly as Francis/Mobley.
The pick we gave Atlanta is the pick we were supposed to get from Detroit via New York that we got in return for the Mirsad Turkcan pick.
LA-We gave Atlanta the Mirsad Turkcan pick. Lil Francis-If that happens, I'd trade the pick, down or out. The #2 pick brought the Clippers Brand, and #3 got the Hawks SAR.
What about the "future consideration" deal with N.Y. on the Rice trade. He was supposed to play a certain amount of games, or we'd get something............????????? NIKE, know any info on that???
Mr. Pibb- DissMember gave a link in Sherlock's thread that said only cash, not picks. I suppose we ought to give Les Alexander a little more credit in basketball knowledge.
Steve Francis is going to re-up with the Rockets. He cares for the future of this team, so he went ahead and tried to figure out our draft scenarios. This is why he is missing games do to Migraine Headaches. Sometimes, Stevie need to quit playing GM, and let CD do th figuring out, and the quirks of things.
