Actually Tennessee is playing at Memphis. Tennessee has a real chance to win this game. I call it a tossup.
It's not necessarily about the fan base, it's college basketball - that's a whole different animal. And it's the possibility of watching Memphis get defeated.
Because the Rockets play an 82 game season with little urgency to each game because the NBA lets in more teams than it excludes from the playoffs.
There is a ton of hype surrounding this game. Not only because it is #1 vs #2, but because it is an in-state rivalry game. Plus, the Vols put a spankin' on the Tigers last year so the Tigers are that much more hungry for this game. The reason the tickets are so hard to get is because there aren't many single game tickets for Tigers games. Most games are close to already being sold out due to season ticket sales. The Tigers are the hottest thing in the city, especially since the Grizz have pretty much thrown in the towel. Season ticket holders could easily sell their tickets for this game and make enough money to purchase their season tickets for next year. Should be a great game! Great for Memphis and great for the state. The good thing is no matter the outcome, both teams will still have a chance at the title in San Antonio as do 60+ other teams.
Tenn.wins this game outright. It will help the Tigers later, but I still don't think they'll win it all. UNC
I was not kidding. Memphis nor Tennessee have a chance. You don't win it all running and gunning and missing free throws all the while coming out of the biggest joke of a conference there is. Tenn just isn't good enough. UCLA, UNC, Kansas, maybe Texas, Duke, Gtown.
We'll see! I agree the Tigers free throw shooting is horrendous, but they always find a way to win. Their free throws are what stand between them and a national title!
