the implication here is that a lot of the highest paid players in the league tend to be overpaid, not that Tracy isn't also being overpaid. There are also a number of players being paid less than Tracy you'd probably take over him, too.

There's a difference between the ability to do something, and actually doing it. Tracy can be an above average, even superior. He is an average defender.

I won't try and argue that the Rockets aren't a significantly better team when Tracy plays. That's stupid. Look at the record. This year, last year, against good teams, against bad teams...it doesn't matter. When Tracy and Yao both play, the Rockets win a lot.

Let's not overestimate Tracy's value, though, and ignore his faults. Same with every player.

Tracy has his obvious faults. There is no doubt about that but I don't think I'm overestimating his value at all....

As eager and impatient fans, we are really quick to forget the past. Go back to last season and even the beginning of this season and look at his performances. He is still easily a top 5 player in this league when on top of his game. Right now his shots aren't falling and its easy to look at him and say he's overrated, but how many times has Mcgrady been through slumps and come out of them looking like a world beater? It's happened quite a bit. In fact sometimes it happens mid-game.
He'll go 0-10 in the first half and then score 18 points in the 3rd quarter.
I'm not worried about him at all.

Could he be playing better? Certainly.
Is he playing so poorly that we should trade him away? Definantly not.

Problem with Tmac is this. Play up to your potential on every possession. Don't fall asleep on D and go to the hole. Doesn't like playing D because it takes away from his jumpers and doesn't like going to the bucket because his free throw shooting is horrible.

Did you try to count how many players you would choose who make less than Tmac?

I agree you have a point but you should make more subjective statements.

    moral of the two threads:
Tmac talking about himself suck? Good, 4 star.
Fans talking about Tmac suck? Bad, 1 star.

I agree that Tracy is invaluable to our team, but I think he has been declining ever since 2005. Those back injuries have really made him risk-averse when it comes to driving to the basket. As a result, he is not as aggressive as he could be. Whatever the case, we are playing winning basketball now. He still has the ability to be clutch in crunch time, and his passing out of the double team creates for our shooters. (Remember Novak's game winning shot?)

I don't think we'll ever see the Tracy of the old again because of athleticism/injury issues, but he is still an integral part of our team
