Sorry to open up a new thread. After watched the recent games, i felt Rocket is heading into Spurs' game style. Does anyne felt the same? is this the so-called "Princeton System" from Rick Ardelman ???
I prefer we will strong like that when our stars are not on fire we still have some way to win the game, that means we not need to be 100% to win
Adelman has adjusted his offense to the personnel, like any good coach would. The Spurs aren't a bad team to model yourself after, if that's what they are trying to do.
Some elements of every NBA offense are the same. Every team runs a lot of pick and rolls. That's one point of similarity. Us and the spurs are also two of the only teams with true post up threats that command double teams. So a lot of the ball movment you see coming from Yao to a three in the other corner...that's pretty standard. Nothing to do with the princeton offense (Which, FYI, isn't really RA's offense--RA uses elements of that, the triangle, and some of his own spice)
a camouflage ??? remember in the beginning of the seaon, Murry wants to turn Rocket into Sun, Warrior- like team therefore he hires RA... But....hes not stupid.. becoming a Sun or Warrior like team will not win a championship. so the true intention behind all was that he wants Rocket to be another Spurs....lol
Turtleneck thing is very Spurs-like. I hate the style. Princeton offense is for college IMO. Unless your rotation is friggin Webber, Divac, Miller, 3 of the top 50 passing bigs of all-time.
The Kings didn't even play a complete 100% Princeton offense. Geoff Petrie hired Pete Carril to bring the Princeton offense to Sacramento. Adelman actually customizes a hybrid offense. He customized it for the Warriors, Trailblazers, and the Kings. Though it was more based on the Princeton offense, because of Pete Carril and Geoff Petrie and the players they had.
Remember in the beginning of the season when we first hired Adelman and the media was like the Rockets are trying to become a run and gun team like the Suns. Then Adelman came in and said they do want to run faster but not like phoenix more like the Spurs. So maybe he knows what he's been doing all along.
Spurs run a Euro Style motion offense. Adleman runs a motion offense. We got a dominant big man. They got a dominant big man. They got two incredible guards. We got 1 and a half incredible guards. Our front line is better than theirs. Other than that, the way the offenses are executed are pretty similar except their guards do a lot more driving into the lane while our players look for easy backdoor cuts.
