So is the original poster being sarcastic, or serious?

'..all the hate Islam GETS..' ????

Yes, it's true, that islamic cultures of several hundred years ago managed to make some impressive advances in the areas of mathematics, medicine, and even art.

Feel free, however, in all the sympathy for all the hate islam 'GETS', to examine all the world-benefitting advancements created by the islamic world in the last 100 years.

Prior to the rise of the wahabbi sect of islam, the religion as a whole was not exactly 'peaceful', per se, but most of its aggression and violence was turned inwards, generating strife primarily between the shia and the sunnis. But because of the fact that most islamic nations were in perpetual destitution, they did not have the resources to export their xenophobia outside their borders.

And the world was mildly tolerant of all this, the bloodbaths of these savages, because they kept it all in-house.

Until we started pumping reality-warping amounts of money into their cultures, allowing the heretofore obscure wahabbis to gain prominence.

And because the religion itself is not so much concerned with the 'eternal hereafter', with the ultimate destination of our everlasting souls, but instead is primarily concerned with dictating every aspect of this corporeal life, the notions of morality which sprang up as a result are utterly incomprehensibly alien to western cultures.

And what happened is that this rather benign attitude toward the poor misguided savages made westerners blind to the danger posed by an entire culture which believed entirely that the entire world MUST be brought under islamic domination. Either by the sword, or by birthrate, by any means necessary, lying, stealing, killing, it does not matter because if a person is not a muslim, then he is not really a person anyway, and hence not worthy of being treated like one.

Look at what is happening in Britain and France, and even Canada right now. This is not a joke, and it's not just some kind of prejudice. Are there 'good' muslims? Of course. But so many of them are cowed by fear, and even just a little bit of tacit approval of the wahabbis' world-dominating goal.

So it's a little odd to see someone mention all the hate islam 'GETS', when there has never been anything like the maniacal, rabid, purely visceral hatred spewing forth from much of islam today.

So how about this? Instead of asking about all the 'good' things that have come from islam, and feeling bad about all the hate they 'get', rather, what about looking at all the good things which have come from western cultures in the last several hundred years, and pay more attention to all the hate directed at them by islam?

Don't mistake this for a hatred of all muslims. In fact, I fully believe that the majority of the world's muslims would be overjoyed if the wahabbis were wiped out in one fell swoop. Despite islam's new outward direction, it has never ceased its unrelenting violence towards its own either. But they can't, or won't, put a stop to them.

There is a great gulf of darkness looming ahead if nothing is done about this.

So yeah, let's spend our time feeling sorry for islam for all the hate it gets.

This wasn't meant to be a D+D thread, but I guess if you put muslim or islam in the thread maybe it is inevitable.

Some of you have a very bad case of Islamophobia, but I guess it's the "in" thing to do just like bashing blacks, jews, japanese, etc.. back in the day.

Wait, these are all ancient history, what has the Islamic world brought to the civilized world in the last 50 some odd years?

Are they advanced in science, or is the Koran holding them back?

    ;)

Maybe we should rename this thread to 'super clever people making snide remarks about a religion.'
