from ESPN Mailbag: "If Eddie Griffin had been starting since the beginning of the season, don't you think he would be the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year? He is by far the most talented rookie out there and with the second-best point guard in the league, dont you think the Houston Rockets are one piece away from contending for the championship? J Samuel, Houston Dear J, Eddie has come on strong. I think he’s a small forward in skills with fine shot-blocking ability. If he continues his recent play, he’ll get consideration for Rookie of the Year honors. If Maurice Taylor comes back and plays up to his potential, the Rockets will be tough indeed next year. Don’t give up on Kelvin Cato yet; big guys develop more slowly. Plus, I don’t know where they can get anyone better at center. The West is a tough conference. The Rockets will have to beat out a good team for a playoff spot. " (Dr. Jack Ramsey)
Even after the slow start I think Eddie is in second place as far as Rookie of the Year goes. It seems like Gasol scores 25pts and grabs 12boards every night.
No favoritism, just trying to be objective. Gasol is good no doubt about it, but he has a better oppotunity. More minutes, more shots, more freedom.
You're probably right. Nice to see the young guy starting to turn some heads, though, after the slow start...
I think both Pau and EG will be SUPER stars in the NBA soon. I would be happy with either of them. DD
For all those people who say we can't get anywhere with Mo Taylor and Cato is useless, check out what their market value is. Props to Griffin, and Gasol. They're magnificent players. Gasol I think ,at the moment, has a slight advantage over Griffin, skill-wise. I think he's a better ball handler right now. But Griffin's 19, and Pau is, what, 21?
