There is nothing wrong with The Killers! Even I find myself enjoying their catchy tunes. sounds like young Bleezy has good taste.
My nephew got into guitar hero, and asked for (and received) an electric guitar for Christmas because of it. He's 9, so who knows if he'll stick with it. But my son, who is 2, thinks that any song with distortion in it is being played by me nephew now.
I had never picked up a guitar until after I played the first guitar hero on ps2. I heard alot of music that I had never heard before, and I liked it. I bought a guitar but never played it until I saw a DVD of SRV, and I started to take a lot more seriously after that. That game introduced me to Texas Flood, and I have been in love with my guitar and the blues ever since.
Well, I probably would have had no opinion of The Killers in general had a brief encounter with them on Rock Band been my only exposure. But instead, every single time we fire that game up, we have to play that "When We Were Young" Killers song at least once, if not twice. If I never hear anyone say, "He doesn't look a lot like Jeeeesus" again, it will be too soon. Also, we bought him a Killers CD, and he ripped it onto his 360. So now when he is playing Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 or whatever, he has that music playing in a constant loop. 3 hours straight of the same 35-40 minutes of music...and now I hate the Killers. I hate them so ****ing much.
I found this interesting a Guitar Hero like game using real guitars. http://gizmodo.com/352800/guitar-rising-for-real-guitar-heroes
Having just recently gotten into the craze of Guitar Hero and playing with it for about a week, everyone’s already said what can be said about Guitar Hero III and to a greater extent Rock Band, but holy hell if these aren’t some of the more fun games out there! One of the best parts about playing the songs in GH3 is the set list. Many of the songs I had heard previously only as part of a “sampling” for a commercial, radio or tv spot or even as a segway for a film, but hearing them in their entirety and playing along is a blast and some of them are downright catchy as hell ( I’ll add to what Castor27 said about his son….I now formally introduce myself at staff meeting and conference calls by saying “My Name is Jonas”) It may be too early to say if a game like GH will increase one’s propensity to be a better musician, or even it translates over for people who have played in real life and would pwn in the game. A co-worker of mine has a husband who plays guitar but can’t wrap his mind around playing on the Wii. Personally, it makes the average non-musician keener to certain chords and creates a sharper ear for music (much like what’s already been said in this thread). A great game!
Both my son and I play the guitar and have fun playing Guitar Hero. My niece was at my house this weekend and heard my son playing Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name' on his real guitar in his room. She walked in and told him..."Is that RATM? There is no way this girl listens to Rage besides on Guitar Hero. I think some of the younger folks are learning about older songs that are played on the game. Its a good thing.
