    My Summer Vacation
Summertime and the living, as they say, is easy. Especially if you're an NBA hoops star whose season consists of draining morning practices, brutal evening games, and even later plane rides to the next town on the list. We polled our AD basketball stars to see what they do when the NBA world finally slows down enough for them to get off. While most people use the summer as the chance to get away, some pro basketballers, like our man 'Toine, are content to just stay in one place and chill. For others, who watched the NBA draft with interest or are caught in the lightspeed frenzy of the free agent merry-go-round, the season started yesterday. Read on.

    Jermaine O'Neal, Portland Trail Blazers

Here are my summer plans: GET TRADED!

I plan to go on vacation with my family maybe for a couple of weeks, but then I'll come back, start working out and hopefully get traded to another team. I am trying to get traded from Portland so I can get a starting role somewhere else, and there are about 12 or 13 teams out there right now who want to make me a deal that will make me a starter. I am at the point in my career that I think that I need to be a starter to develop into the player that I am capable of developing into.

On July 1st, I really started to look at where I would want to play. Portland still has the rights to my contract for three more years and they can keep me here if they want to, but I seriously doubt that will happen because they know that I really want to get traded. Portland has been a good place to be for the last four years and I've learned a lot, but it’s time for
me to move on, because my heart, basketball-wise, just isn't there any more. I just think that it’s time for me to be a starter.

    Juwan Howard, Washington Wizards

During the summer, I am usually working out with my trainer during the week and on the weekends. I'm also playing some pick-up ball about four days a week. I usually play from about 12:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon with some of the other NBA players from Chicago, like Tim Hardway.

During the rest of the summer, I'll probably be watching a lot of baseball games and I will definitely make it out to some of the Chicago Cubs games, because I'm a huge fan. Baseball is really my first love. If I wasn't playing basketball, then I would definitely be playing baseball.

    Antoine Walker, Boston Celtics

I'm spending the summer really trying to get my foundation, Camp 8, off the ground. I am trying to form associations with people and charities in order to get some continuing sponsors year in and year out, so that I don't have to worry about that end. That way, I can just focus on getting some good, quality programs underway for the kids. I also have a program in Boston that is doing real well right now, too. I am trying to keep it small but effective. I am just trying to get endorsements and just get people to donate to my charities.

I really don't have any destinations in particular that I plan on visiting this summer for a vacation. I don't plan things out that far ahead of time. Usually, if I want to go somewhere, I just pick up and go. I'm really not doing much this summer, though. I play in the summer leagues here in Chicago, but I try to stay home as much as possible.

    Antawn Jamison, Golden State Warriors

I have a summer schedule for the offseason that I stick to. I get up around 9 or 10 a.m. and go to the gym to work out for about three or four hours. Then I just relax and let my body rest. I also go out and play tennis every once in a while. I don't like to do too much to stress my body in the offseason, because I rely heavily on it when the season comes around. For fun, I like to hang out on jet skis and have fun in the water. I like to hang out with my friends like Richie, Cori and Livis to have a good time. Every once in a while, I'll go on a vacation, because during the season, we travel so much that I don't get a chance to rest and collect my thoughts.

I am definitely planning to participate in some camps this summer, because I like going out there and having fun with the kids. Next summer, I'm going to start camps of my own in Charlotte and Oakland.

    Trajan Langdon, Cleveland Cavaliers

For my summer vacation, I’m going to Spain from August 3-14. I’m sure that we’ll end up taking a few day trips to explore the entire country, but the majority of the time will be spent in Barcelona. My girlfriend’s sister is going to meet us there and she has a bunch of friends that live there, so it should be a really good time. I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures to show on my site so all of you fans get an idea of how it went.
