As I was reading DaDa's post, I know TOO many teams have made or were making a big move towards a Champion this year. Celtics===Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Tony Allen Lakers===Pau Gasol Suns===Shaq O'Neal Dallas===Jason Kidd(ongoing) Definitely, all the teams above are aiming at a Champion this year and next year and ....where leaves New Orleans, San Antonio, Utah , Golden State and Houston Rockets intact. Utah and Golden State are already tough match-ups for us. New Orleans and San Antonio donot seem as eager as the Rockets to make a trade at the position of PG. Anyone is confident that Rafer is good enough or Ok for us not to make a trade due to whatever reasons? Why our roster is good enough to guarantee us to move to the final in the playoffs within the next three or four years while the Duo is still likely at their peak time.
Do you want to lose -- Scola and/or Brooks and/or Landry -- All teams will want one or more to move any above average player to the Rockets....
all these moves made by the suns/mavs are DESPERATION moves. those moves realistically don't improve their teams. the reason the suns own the league is b/c of their unique style (now it's not unique anymore). the reason the mavs have dominated us recently is b/c of their perimeter quickness (now they don't have that over us anymore). we just need to stay on course. there is nobody outside of mike miller or artest that would truly fit our team. but to get those guys, we have to give up our future. u don't trade your future for a one-year rental.
Head and Hayes are the only tradable assets we have that we might be willing to part with. I personally think a deal for Snyder and Head might be the only move we make.
There aren't even any trade rumors involving the Rockets with 4 days until the deadline. It looks like we are stuck with an inconsistent PG to lead us down the stretch.
The team that wins it all will not be one that made a blockbuster trade during the season. The Celtics have a shot because they did it before the season but the Lakers, Suns and Mavs (assuming it happens) are going to get to the Finals although I admit that the Lakers scare the hell out of me starting next season. S.A. and Utah have to be the favorites thanks to good old fashioned chemistry and a core that has been together for a few years.
Our tradeable assets are: James Snyder Alston Francis Bonzi Bonzi's contrace is up after this year. Unlikely we sign him again. Francis- Unlikely we trade him cause the Rockets have a history of giving chances to players to come back. Mutumbo comes off the books cause he retires
No, I do not want. Scola is 27, but he is doing great in RA's system and AB and Carl give me hope for tomorrow. I assume that Yao and T-mac is untouchable and three rookies are the ones that GM wants to keep in the future unless one of them is not doing good to the Rockets.
Outlaw is BYC so finding a deal involving him would be extremely difficult. I'm a big fan of Outlaw too so i've considered this idea also.
Good point. I still think believe that Phoenix and Dallas will have too big of an adjustment to win it all this year. I think LA will improve but are still a year away from putting it all together. Despite the record they are sporting they were nowhere near contending before adding Gasol. They will be scary next season. I think Detroit was the perfect storm. They added exactly what they needed to a mature, veteran, hungry squad of guys who were already clutch players. I don't think we will see that happen this season. They also had the benefit of playing in the Leastern Conference as opposed to the West where the Finals is actually the easiest series on the way to a ring.
I think I'd give up Brooks and change for Outlaw and Jack. Outlaw is young and developing well. He could be a great scorer against other teams' second unit and eventually replace Tmac or Batty. Jack is okay, not great, but he a big PG.
The West is loaded, wow. But, Detroit and Boston (and LBJ?) are wow, too! As you said they'll likely have to just survive thst showdown East Finals to play...??? from the West. Lakes seem closest to loaded; Suns going to set, I think; Mavs suddenly back to the future as a J - o - k - e!; Spurs are still the scary Spurs; Could Nugs be this year's Warriors or Jazz?; Could this year be the year for Warriors or Jazz?; Chris Paul is a threat to run the table; Which leaves - Houston...could they be the NBA's NYGiants - or last spring's Rockets? Portland goes Lotto. Which of these nine join them?
We've won our last 8 games, we have great chemistry why would we break it ? If we make a move, I hope it will be minor, like James, Francis and Head traded for a bag of balls.
