I have been seeing around Forum it seems about split for people who want Ron Artest. I personally think he is EXACTLY what we need.

    1) He is a huge defensive threat much like Batman and having 2 wing defenders like that along with a Big man (Yao obv.) clogging the lane, that makes the Rockets the SCARIEST defense in the league. Imagine being able to stop anyone's best the whole game with fresh legs (with Batman + Artest switching off... sick).
    2) He can guard all 5 positions (now Cs he may have some trouble but in this NBA, he can guard most Cs even if necessary) and especially dangerous vs. 2-4 which would be great help.
    3) He has a VERY reasonable contract, 8 million or something a year (are you kidding for how good he is...)
    4) Yes he has an attitude and a bad one at that, but honestly who doesn't think the Rockets need that, all the Cfans keep talking about how they would love to have Sura's bulldog attitude or Mad Max's attitude back, guys thats what Ron Artest will bring. Sure he brings baggage with him and some crap, but you know FOR SURE he listens and respects Adelman because he was under control in Sactown when Rick was there.
    5) Whoever wants Mike Miller, I agree he would help us, but honestly does everyone want another quiet guy on this team? I would love to have Ron Artest's attitude (as long as he doesn't jump in the stands I am cool with him :)).

Thats just my two sense, I was wondering how many CFans would like Artest on this Rockets team?

I wouldnt mind taking the risk for artest, but I'd rather test him for the long term than just as a hired gun for the end of this season.

On a side note, our all defensive lineup:

    Battier
    Artest
    Hayes
    Deke
    Yao

    Thats just nasty =P

Well I can't reply but yea I have crazy grammar problems, here is clearer version:

I have been seeing around Forum it seems about split for people who want Ron Artest. I personally think he is EXACTLY what we need.

    1) He is a huge defensive threat much like Batman:
Having 2 wing defenders like that along with a Big man (Yao obv.) clogging the lane would make the the Rockets the SCARIEST defense in the league. Imagine being able to stop anyone's best, throughout the whole game with fresh legs (with Batman + Artest switching off to keep each other fresh... sick).

    2) He can guard all 5 positions:
Centers he may have some trouble against, but in the NBA of today, he can even guard many of the Centers, if the Rockets find him needing to do that. He is also an especially dangerous defender vs. 2-4 positions which would be great help.

    3) He has a VERY reasonable contract:
8 million or something a year (are you kidding for how good he is...)

    4) He has a bad attitude, but it is that fire that the Rockets need:
All the Cfans keep talking about how they would love to have Sura's bulldog attitude or Mad Max's attitude back. Well everyone RON ARTEST brings that same attitude. Sure he brings baggage with him and some crap, but you know FOR SURE he at least will listen to Adelman because he was under control in Sactown while Adelman was there.

    5) Whoever wants Mike Miller, I agree he would help us, but honestly does everyone want another quiet guy on this team? I would love to have Ron Artest's attitude and defense over a guy that can only make 3s (as long as he doesn't jump in the stands I am cool with him ).

    6) If he only costs Brooks, Synder, maybe some other scrub I'd say go for it. It would make James (Mr. Ballhog) be forced into minutes because we would be left with only 2 PGs, but for Artest I can stand James out there for 10-15 minutes a game. (Maybe we can get lucky and get some PG from Sactown also)

Also if you say No to Artest or Yes or you'd rather have Miller please explain why.

I agree with that, I don't think I would give up Scola. My hopes were that we are giving Brooks, Snyder, + Francis (2 expirings + Young player), and maybe a pick or 2. In my opinion thats a pretty fair trade at least on what Sacramento seems to be getting (judging from Bibby trade).

i think rockets need penetration more than outside shooters. inconsistent shooters will chuck the rockets out of games...luther head..battier...alston.

i think we have enough of those. unless u can go for a legitimate sharp shooter like peja or kapono, i personally think we should get a player that resembles artests' game

I'd want him, but only for expiring contracts (Francis, Snyder, Wells). Francis could come back after 30 days...

My nomination for "GARM Post of the Month by a Rookie". There are posters who've been around here for years that haven't figured that one out.

Haven't given up on him, have you?

And hell yes, I want Artest. I hate that NBA.com won't let me have a #93 'ARTEST' Rockets jersey.

Depends on Ron Artest. I would like word from him that he wouldn't bail on H-Town after this half season rental. Remember, his contract is expiring. You never know with him. He might not like being 3rd option. It would suck if we gave up Scola and Brooks for Artest and he ends up not signing with us after the season ends. It's almost too risky.

He's a basket case. I'd hate to see the Rockets give him a fat contract, only to watch him do something stupid and get suspended.

That seems to be likely scenario. If we don't win the championship w/ Artest this season, this will look like one of the worst moves of the season, coming close to the LA/Memphis trade. Essentially we will lose two good players for NOTHING. Next year = Rockets - Artest - Scola - Brooks (or any other combination of 2 solid Rox contributors). We would be even deeper in the hole then this year.

If we must give up Books and Scola, I never want it happen.

I think what the Kings would like more than getting one Landry or Scola would be to get rid of Kenny Thomas.

Artest is an expiring contract so they obviously want value for him and not just other expiring contracts.

Houston wants to get trim some roster fat but a deal that brings back Kenny probably would do absolutely nothing to get under the luxery tax threshold. Especially with Artest coming up for a new contract.

If the Rockets are serious about Artest here is a deal that might work.

    Ron Artest
    Kenny Thomas

    for

    Shane Battier
    Steve Francis
    Bonzi Wells
    Dekembe Mutombo
    Chuck Hayes
    Kirk Snyder

That would trim a lot of the extra and unused fat from our roster that would other wise come off of the books at the end of the year, primarely Francis, Bonzi, Deke, Kirk and Chuck. It would relieve Sac of the KT contract while getting value for Artest and guys like Francis, Bonzi, Snyder and Hayes all could be resigned at the end of the season if they wanted them.

Our line up would then look like this.

    Yao / Landry
Scola / Landry / Kenn Thomas
TMac / Artest / Steve Novak / Re-sign Mike Harris
Artest / Head / Mike James
    Rafer / AB / MJ

That would leave us with 12 under contract and with the exception of Battier all of our current contributors are still on the team.

It really depends at what cost we have to pay.

He would be a great fit to our team but I won't trade away Shane Battier for Ron Ron.

He is way better than Battier.
    Better D
    Better Offense
I dont know why you wont do it for Battier.

Because Ron Artest is a disaster waiting to happen. He has problems with impulse control and attitude.
