I am completely on the other side of this trade compared to the majority here. This is a great trade for the Kings. Mike Bibby year over year has been performing worse and worse while showing signs of being disgruntled with the chemistry of the team. He makes a ridiculous amount of money for the level of play he has been putting out there the last couple of years and Beno Udrih performing incredibly during the stretch Mike Bibby was out. Good trade for both sides, but I think especially good trade for the Kings.

I,too like this deal for the Kings in the end.Landlord can play and Wright isn't bad.In addition they are expiring deals.Bibby's big deal expires soon too. Also he has a little bit left I think. You can definitely can see the motivation for both teams here.
Artest is definitely going now. I really wish we could somehow get him and Delonte West. But that's being unrealistic at this point. As stated earlier the Maloofs aren't giving RA anything....Unless we're dealing TMac no Ron Ron.

Not just worsening performance and disgruntlement, he hasnt even played much this season. Bibby's been an iron man for his career but could be one of those "wrong side of 30" guys (he turns 30 after the season). He was one of the last remaining holdovers of the Adelman era so they can now officially move on.

Plus the Kings were in need of some inside muscle. They have plenty guards and swingmen. Mikki Moore's a nice player but not enough to shore up a frontcourt. Lorenzen Wright could actually play for this team, though the Kings need to either cut or buyout some guys cuz they have like 17 players now.

Plus it ticks off the Suns fans since they want Atlanta to fail because they're bitter about Joe Johnson going there.

Close. The Suns get this year's Hawks pick without any qualfication. Go Hawks, get a home seed - and let the pick be in the 20s!!!

Bibby almost has negative trading value due to his huge contract. Artest is much more valuable on the trading market.

The Hawks are now short on back-up Powerforward/Centers (as that's both what Williams and Wright were). Although their starting 5 is set if they can stay healthy.

    I'm surprised Childress wasn't involved.

    great trade for both teams.

the kings have their SG and PF stops filled for the next 10 years. they are on their way to rebuilding.

the hawks will make the playoffs this season screwing over the suns plans of picking up a lotto pick for the johnson trade.

If the Knicks were willing to to Eddie and Jerome James for Artest and Thomas but Sacramento wouldn't do it, then I would think NY could get a deal done if they substituted Malik Rose for Jerome James. Malik's only got one year left. That's sure better than KT. I think Sac would go for that deal.

i dont think they can get that good of a deal for him.

artest is a possible 30 game rental if there isn't an extension in place. he might snap at any time and combust team chemistry or get suspended.

the most kings fans are hoping for (as i read on the realgm board) is a package of endings and maybe a mid-late first rounder. they'd be really happy with a young payer in that package.

Wow, the Hawks got a playmaker to give Joe Johnson some relief and finally allows their surplus of swingmen to shine. I wouldn't be surprised if they get 5th or 6th seed..

Artest wants to go to NY. He'd sign extension with them. It's only a matter of of Zeke could convince Dolan to do it.

I think the Hawks will make the playoffs...and they actually have some hope now.

Bibby, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Josh Childress, Al Horford...pretty decent core.

Coming from somebody that watches a ton of Hawks games I can promise you this is a great move for them. Not only has PG been their weakest link but they're also a very mistake prone team down the stretch of close games. Bibby is clutch and great at quarterbacking games.

It's definitely win-win for the Hawks. Worst case scenario is he stinks up the joint or gets hurt, in which case, you suck it up for another year & half before you have something like $15 million coming off the books.

Dont forget about Marvin Williams...and Acie Law as the backup PG.

If they resign Josh Smith this offseason, I think ATL could be a pretty dangerous team in the East next season.

Like Jason Kidd going East, not at predicting it will have the same impact, but its similar in how Kidd the huge contract veteran went to New Jersey.

    New Jersey 01-02
    Atlanta 07-08

Couple young talented lotto picks in the frontcourt
    NJ: Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson
    ATL: Al Horford, Marvin Williams

Proven guard/fowards who are star or nearly star players
    NJ: Van Horne, Kerry Kittles
    ATL: Joe Johnson, Josh Smith

& Anthony Johnson was involved with both teams

The remaining depth, on paper the Hawks have more talent. At center Atlanta has Zaza Pachulia, Nets had Todd MacCulloch & Jason Collins 'nuff said. Atlanta also has Acie Law and Josh Childress. This Hawks team wont go to the finals, especially since Detroit and Boston this year would crush that New Jersey team and this year's Hawks probably, but they have pieces to "potentially" be in the running.
