Apparently the Maloof's would rather cut themselves than hand anything to Adelman.

If we can hang tight, we can end up being the only team in the West which does not attempt to upgrade themselves in some way. I guess the Rockets are so good and so competitive in the West, they don't have to.

It was virtually impossible for the Rockets to trade for Bibby. I'd like to see someone on this board come up with a realistic trade proposal that the Kings would have accepted and would have been beneficial to the Rockets.

If this move is true, then Artest is definelty is on the way out too. He would be the one to get for half a season and see what happens next.

because of an easy schedule and still not winning comfortably often.

Are these all expiring contracts? I guess that means Acie Law is a bust?

I think it means Speedy Claxton was a bust PG signing for them.

Nothing major i think. Bibby is a good player but nothing to be concerned about for the Rockets, even if they got the Kings in the 1st round of the playoffs.

    2006-2007

    Mike Bibby

    17.1 ppg, 4.7 apg, 2.4 topg, 1.1 spg, 3.2 rpg, 40.4% FG, 36.0% 3PT

    Rafer Alston

    13.3 ppg, 5.4 apg, 2.1 topg, 1.6 spg, 3.4 rpg, 37.6% FG, 36.3% 3PT

Mike Bibby is making somewhere around 13-14 million dollars this year. I challenge someone to find a trade between the Rockets and Kings that was going to work and be beneficial to the Rockets.

Ain't gonna happen. He's gonna wind up in Denver or New York.

    Like I said....................

    Welcome to Houston, Delonte West.

Not, unless you want to give up scola, landry or brooks.

I guess no one saw this coming because of the ownership questions in Atlanta ... no one assumed they would take on $$. What a great trade for the Hawks, in my opinion. They desperately needed a point guard and they get one for trash. Kings made the move just to get Bibby's salary off the books and they get a young big in Shelden Williams, who the Hawks probably wanted to move.

Every year some team/teams see the need to blow it all up and get salary off the books, and bargains are had. For years expiring contracts have proven valuable, but this year it's been taken to a whole new level.

I think either Tyronn Lue or Anthony Johnson will be bought out and could be considered by the Rockets as a backup PG.

    Exactly.

Some of you guys will complain about anything. Why in the world would you trade for a guy making $14 million? Let alone the fact that we have nothing to offer Atlanta and that the Maloofs won't trade with us. Would you be OK with giving them one of Landry/Scola plus our expirings for Bibby and his $14million? I sure as hell wouldn't and that's what it likely would have taken.

It's a damn good trade for a team in Atlanta that needed some leadership with their young talent out on the wings, but for a veteran team like ours, Bibby would have been a marginal upgrade at an unreasonable pricetag. For the Hawks, he makes them a whole lot better.

thacabbage, i agree with your post regarding bibby...

however, at a time when every playoff-bound team in the west has looked to make upgrades in the past few weeks, i'm not at all happy that les alexander's primary focus is trying to unload salary such as snyder just to get below the LT threshold for this season....especially when it's obvious this team needs PG help...

i hope he proves me wrong before thursday and brings in some added roster talent, but history has shown him to be not necessarily the cheapest owner but one who definitely puts his own bottomline before winning.......i still wish we would have had derek harper in the '97 playoffs instead of just matt maloney...
