Tuesday August 1 12:05 PM ET Report: Jackson To Sign With Kings ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Bobby Jackson reportedly is on his way to the Sacramento Kings. The Saint Paul Pioneer Press and the Sacramento Bee reported Tuesday a deal was imminent on the first day NBA free agents are allowed to sign with new teams. The Pioneer Press, which attributed its report to ``informed sources,'' valued the deal at $13.5 million over five years. The Kings scheduled a news conference for Wednesday. Jackson, a member of the University of Minnesota's 1997 Final Four team, averaged 5.1 points and 2.4 assists in 73 games last season as the primary backup to Terrell Brandon. His departure would leave second-year player Will Avery as Brandon's backup. ------------------ "Your not a real member of CC.net unless you have 1000 posts"
Wednesday August 1, 2002 1205: PM ET Report: Kevin Garnett To The Rockets ST. Paul, Minn. (A9) - Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly are tired of KG's constant whinning about losing. Thus they have traded the talented forward to the NBA Champions Houston Rockets for the rights to Venson Hamilton and cash. Garnett will team up with Francis, Mobley, Shandon, Cato and Curry to form the best 6 man rotation in the league. The Rockets have scheduled a press conference for tomorrow. This will give Kevin McHale nightmares, but a G's got to do what a G's got to do. ------------------
Bobby Jackson must have been drinking Sprite all this time instead of gatorade. His game hasn't gone anywhere since the draft. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Too funny! Seriously, what happened to V. Hamilton? He was the player that everyone was (relatively) excited about maybe filling a role as a backup big man who can bang and get rebounds. Strange that we've got T Washington in summer ball, and not V-Ham. ------------------
