Chuck have pretty good shooting % does that make him a great offensive player? :D

% can be misleading, people like Nash and Boozer really does have good shooting % while people like Chuck only have good % due to their very limited capabilities.

exactly. his numbers are so crazy that he has to be considered. remember a couple of years ago when kobe averaged something like 35ppg? he was only in the 7th seed, but the race was down to him or nash.

the mvp race usually comes down to the best players in 3 categories. 1, the best player on the best team. 2, importance to the team. 3, best individual stats.

lebron actually is on top of 2 out of those 3...best stats, most important to the team.

if they could advance to the second round again this season, he's gotta win it.

MVP has nothing to do with playoffs.

I think this injury really hurts KG's MVP chances. Not because he missed 7 games but because the Celtics are 5-2 in those 7 games and beat some powerhouse teams without him.

I rather take the Yao that DOMINATED(24.5PPG,13RB,2.5BLK), in that dominant 13 game stretch where he said "you can't ****ing stop me!". That was when he own the paint 85% of the time and settled less with weak fade-away and 15ft chippers.

What could've been, if not for that leg injury.

I'll take the Yao we have. If henever imporved from 22,10 & 2 we almost always have the best center on the floor

That Yao would've only lasted 5 more NBA seasons.

I think Adelman's greatly improved Yao's durability. Stamina doesn't seem to be much of an issue anymore and you can tell why; Yao is only struggling in the low post about 15% of the time; most of the time, he's either in the high post or standing still. While that may not be the most effective manner to use him, it sure will keep his legs and back strong for another couple of years. Yao's versatile game now is suited for a long long, Kareem-esque career.

I do have to give props to Adelman on that.

Still not bad if you consider how many double teams he faces.
Yao shot really bad in December. That happens. Shooting too much form mid range because of the system is another reason for that. Now he stays in low post more, his TS% are up.

simple... when the big stiff is getting passed the ball... at the high post... 50% of the time this year...

its ony natural that he takes a few shots from that 15 to 18 foot range.... bound to drop his fg% ....especially when he also...is taking fewer shots then last year...

How is a meaningless stat? It's a much better stat than FG%, which mainstream use... usually very incorrectly.

Yes, TS% does not take into account volume. For example, scoring 5 ppg at 58 TS% is very different from 20 ppg at 58 TS%. But it's a great tool to separate the true all-stars from chuckers. That's why Durant is not even close to being the offensive player that Yao is despite both being 20+ ppg scorers.

Lebron deserves the MVP if his team does okay and he keeps putting up these beast like numbers. The man is amazing.

i don't think he can improve his jump shooting %. 50% is normal for a shooting center. for comparison, dream/ewing/duncan was around 50% for many seasons. the only way to get to mid-50s is to cut down the number of jumpers he takes. but then it's asking him to change his game and be something he's not.
