It's a damn shame he's base year with a rather large contract. I think he'd be a terrific fit. Here's what last season looked like...

2006-07 (Chicago): Averaged a career-high 16.6 ppg, 6.3 apg (13th in NBA), 3.4 rpg and 1.25 spg (26th in NBA) in 35.5 mpg … also had a career best shooting season, hitting .448 from the floor, including .415 (15th in NBA) from downtown, and .835 from the free throw line … ranked 22nd in the NBA in assists per turnover (2.62) … led the Bulls in assists 55 times, points 17 times and once in rebounds … had 30 games of 20+ points, including one of 30+ points … 10 double-doubles – nine point-assist and one point-rebound … 10 games of 10+ assists … passed a season-best 13 assists vs. TOR (02/13) … finished with 23 points, a season-high 10 boards and seven assists vs. SA (01/15) … set season-highs at WAS (01/10) in points (33), FGM (11), FGA (21), 3FGM (6), 3FGA (12) and minutes played (45:51) … two games on the Inactive List with a left groin strain (12/30, 01/02) … 2007 Playoffs: Started all 10 games for the Bulls and tallied 12.1 ppg, 7.5 apg and 4.2 rpg in 36.2 mpg … shot .376 from the field, .302 from the arc and .769 from the line … recorded four straight double-doubles to close out the playoffs.

If we want a champion, we definitely need someone like Calderon. He is worth 5Millon+ a year. We should try our best to get him. Anyway, he will be available this summer.
But it that's not available, I could accept Blake or Duhon, even Delonte West. But how could we get rid of MJ's contract?
BTW, if Arenas say he wants to join Houston, what will we do?

Whatever happens it will not affect so much depth of our team.

I like it just the way it is, deal with Kirk Snyder and that's it if it's necessary.

It is not like blockbuster trade is going to happen.

Hinrich from last year. He got the extension at the beginning of the season, so it isn't like he was playing for a contract. Not bad numbers at all. He needs work on his turnovers, but otherwise he's solid.

I would take him over Rafer in a second. But then, I am so not a Rafer fan, I would take almost anybody that can make a jumper consistently. Rafer has just enough "moments" to keep his job, but barely. He is an amazing survivor. Just when you are ready to rush the court and bean him, he comes up with a decent game, then he goes 3 for 50. He might be one of the most irritating Rocket's players ever. And you know exactly what he is going to do in the playoffs...disappear.

Calderon would be a dream...but it won't happen. He is going to be paid...a lot. He is easily the starting PG for a majority of NBA teams. Hell, who is a better pure PG in the nba? He's easily top 10

not sure why rox need a big man.

With the way rafer have perform, i say trade him when his still playing well, his down swing will come soon, i guess by the end of feb, everyone will jump off his wagon.

Only nice looking PG out there i guess rox have a chance of getting are Navarro.

Before the TJ Ford injury, I thought it might be a small possibility to get Calderon. Today, no chance.

    Agreed...

Luis, Chuck and CL at the 4(and sometimes 5) plus Deke who could spell for a few minutes...Barring a potential injury, I don't think we need help down low...

I think this is just another case of "Vescey being Vescey"

Pre-knee-injury McGrady this year was as good as any McGrady we have ever seen before. Slightly less aggressive in getting to the basket, but more crafty than ever on the perimeter.

I would rather Morey out a deal to get a starting pg instead of dealing for Mike Miller. I think any of the following would be great for the Rox :

    1. Mike Bibby: Experienced in RA offense. Great shooter. Great at controlling offensive tempo. Trade to a potential playoff team might fire him up.

    2. Kirk Hinrich: Better shooter than rafer. Better player than current stats suggest. Playing as the third scoring option will do wonders for his overall effectiveness.

    3. Ben Gordon: Great shooter. Tough and clutch performer. Strong player to body up WC pg in half court. Not ideal at pg, but Rox do not need a legit pg. Rox just need consitent offensive threat with solid ball handling skills that is not too turnover prone.

All three aforementioned guards I think are obtainable. I think the Rox might have to give up a future first rounder to get them. Any of these three will upgrade the rox current back court situation. If and when the rox get to the playoffs I think rafer again will wilt under the pressure. I honestly dont think he will be able to take the beating the other WC pg will give him on the defensive end. I say include him in a trade for any of the guards mentioned above.

Pretty sure the Rockets are NOT looking for help at PF. That's way too obvious now. Scola is getting better every game and by Playoff, (assuming Rockets make it), he's going to be huge. Did anyone forget Scola single handedly got his national team into the Olympics? The other "stars" did not play for the team and he was it! He has the right stuff and can be counted on to make a difference. There won't be another 4 scorer games in the playoff this time.

I would consider this a huge "steal" for the Rockets considering what they gave up for him. (don't you agree?) Maybe not Gasol type help but Lakers did give up 2 1st rounders and a massive expiring contract for him (Lakers could have use that contract and gone after a rather good free agent in the off season).

As for PG play, too bad Steve was hurt and MJ is not panning out but Brooks with his wheels and shooting will be very important come playoff. There is no way to trap him and his shooting will come around. (He beat Novak on a 3 point contest and is the current 3pt champ from College). The boy can shoot. As for Alston, he "forgets" how to play sometimes and that could very well be cause by no "clutchness" but as long as he's not playing over 40 miniuties the team is fine.

Can there be a trade made for PG help? Sure, but the cost both talent wise and money wise, will more than likely shoot down the deal. Sam or Mike B would be nice to have but at what cost? I am convice AB will be a keeper and given time will be a starter in the NBA. Question is, for whom? Should the team do a knee jerk and get a quick fix or weather out this storm?

Didn't a lot of BBSers predict it would take half a season for this team to gel? It took a little longer and with good health, they seem to be a gellin' nicely. Fools Gold about Alston? Maybe, but it's not like they can get a J Kidd or something...

I've been watching, and I think that Alston has been doing much better, playing fewer minutes, and catching the energy of Brooks out there. He also knows that if he falters, Brooks will get more playing time.

He didn't have that last year. He could go through a slump and we had no other options better. If he goes through another slump, if we haven't moved James, even he would be better. So, we have better options.

I'd like to get Cassell, Andre Miller, Hinrich, Gordon, or Bibby too.

... but Alston might be better this year in the playoffs than he has been, not having to play so many minutes.

I don't think we have a chance now that they waived Damon. Also.. what happened to Navarro? Gasol gone and now he has consistent playing time again but he still is in a slump. He was lights out when Gasol was hurt. Wonder if he is gonna come back around. I have also seen him get burned a few times on defense so that might be a liability.. and plus.. he's a rookie. I can just imagine it now.. 4 rookies in the game at the same time.. interesting but don't think it's gonna happen. heh

The only way we get Navarro is if we take on the Custodian's salary.

I like the idea of having Chris Duhon of the Bulls. It seems that they have been showcasing him for a trade since Hinrich has been out with an injury. My second choice would be Kyle Lowrey. We would have to go after a player that is in Morey's moneyball range, which would mean possibly picking up a back-up point guard that hasn't had a chance to establish themselves in the league because of lack of playing time.
