The concern is defense. See if RA puts Novak in, we pretty much need points and try to stretch for Yao. Defense is not a concern.

I dont think Novak is ready to play any major minutes, mainly because of his defense. He is going to be a liabilty at 4 or 3 defensively, two spots that are star laddened in this league.

Talking about slow footed guys on the floor at the same time. How does a combo of Battier, Yao and Novac strike you? :p

Agreed, that neither Yao and Novak
are the fastest foot speed on the team.
And that having both on the court at the
same time puts a jag into our defensive foot
    speed...

So how about the all rookie TMac show?

    AB
    Tmac
    Novak
    Landry
    Scola

Novak's a de facto rookie. He's got room to improve and develop. Mobley was nothing special until he found his explosive first step in his second year. It's early to pass judgement on Novak IMO.

I agree. I think the offense should rotate around getting Novak the ball when he is in there. Let him either shoot it, or force the overplay and create something for somebody else.

The last 3 minutes of that was too much forcing the ball into Yao, and Novak passing up WIDE open jumpers after he got the ball.

They couldnt get the ball to Yao so the vets had to jack up a shot.
They got the ball to Novak who just passed it back to the vets.
McGrady got the ball but just kept passing it to Novak or whoever lol. It was ridiculous. While the Rox sorted things out withselves, Ron Artest just brought the ball up the court and straight buried shots in their face without much strategy. The only thing good about the Rockets possessions was they used a bunch of clock time up before they got behind by 5.

This is a Novak thread though...I agree his shooting is valuable in certain conditions. And those conditions happen semi regularly, so it can be argued he's underutilized in those instances.

Novak would be great on a team like the nets or miami. He could really shine with his shooting and since no one would expect him to win he could not play all the defense he wanted.

    Novak is our Steve Kerr.

Remember how Kerr played for San Antonio. He just camped out at the 3 pt line and let it fly after the defense collapsed on Duncan and Robinson. He was only brought in in specialty situations.
