When did this become such a big thing? You know what I'm talking about. People just blast text out a generic well wishing for the particular holiday.

Whoever is doing this, please stop. It's stupid. I probably got 5 or 6 of them today.

Compulsive text-messagers are some of the most annoying people on the planet.

Such a terrible and horrible life you lead FFB. I don't know how you put up with such things. You'll be in my prayers. :(

I text people. Because otherwise I'd waste all my bloody minutes trying to BS and talk to people and tell them over the phone. Thanks, but my texting package is way more cost effective rather than going over on my minutes or upping my plan.

I know what you mean. I wish there's some type feature where I can block incoming text. I don't have the text messaging plan, so I pay like a quarter every time somebody sends me a useless "happy v-day". That adds up fast, especially when there's a holiday.

Yeah, but it's always the same people who do it. It comes off insincere and dumb, IMO.

Wow, so the SAME people keep wishing you happiness over the span of multiple holidays? HOLY GOD the world is going to end!

I'm just kidding - don't get your valentines panties in a wad!

I actually agree with FFB for once. People who send out generic blasts to everyone in their phone on every holiday are lame. It isn't genuine.

Texting in general is great though, I'd rather text than talk any day of the week.

Well, at least you're in their minds.

I do it only to my closest friends. Maybe they consider you one of their close friends. Who knows.

generic texting is bull$&it, if i'm not worth your minutes to wish me whatever you need on a particular holiday send an email, or don't bother, it's insincere, when i want to wish someone well i call thenm or visit them, maybe some people have too many friends, being in people's thoughts and having there well wishes are fine, but when i know you didn't take the time to individualize the message it is insincere, and i could care less if you sent me anything at all

So nothing would be better? I mean, it's not feasible for these people to call everyone on Xmas day or New Years Day, etc. It's a simple way to show that they are wishing you a happy whatever.

Checking a box next to your name requires just about the smallest effort possible. Personally, I don't mind them terribly, but I think they are insincere and stupid.

So you're ok with these same people sending a mass email out, but not a text?

And sometimes the smallest effort possible is the most feasible effort possible.

I have quite a few friends in my phone that I wouldn't call or expect them to call to wish me a Happy whatever. Yet, I get texts from them on that day and to me, it's nice that they thought of me at all. Guess we're just different.

It just seems like a very egotistical thing to get upset or annoyed about. Would you rather they just not contact you at all?
