I don't know good the history of Rockets. I read today in one thread, that Houston has picked in the draft Mirsad Turkcan instead of Rashard Lewis. Can you say me something more about it? How was Mirsad playing and so on? Do we have still rights to him? I'm asking, because I have read that Mirsad Turkcan was named MVP of 10. week of Euroleague (if you don't know, it's the league of the best European teams, where level of playing is similar to the level of the worst teams in NBA). He has huge performance in a hard 88-83 home win over Buducnost - including 27 points (7 of 15 two-pointers, 2 of 3 threes and 7 of 8 free throws), 23 rebounds (13 defensive and 10 offensive), 8 fouls drawn. It was not just a one play, he is the leader in double doubles (with 7 in 10 games) in all Euroleague. Maybe I'm wrong, but a player, who can get such a numbers (especially 23 rebs), should get a chance in NBA (or if he already got one, he should get another one). I hope Houston can get him. We just need such a player and he will surely not be so expensive as Rashard Lewis will be or Mo is.
I think Mirsad is a Free Agent from the NBA's perspective. Not withstanding an European team contract, Mirsad could sign with whatever NBA he can come to an agreement. BTW, Rudy liked his D rebounding intensity and his outside shot. At the time of his draft, speculation was that he would play the 4 spot. I remember that he had the height but not the weight, a la EG. Seeing that the Rocks all ready have a log jam at the 4, I do not see them having any interest.
I think he is playing as a C in Euroleague. I know, that some scouts from NBA (for instance from NY Knicks) were in Moscow to see him. I think it will be, when NY take this guy before us. Our C and PF can't rebound. Mirsad can. He had double doubles in 7 games of 10, but in this 3 without it he hasn't because of injury.
Turckan's rights went from Houston to Philadelphia to New York to out of the league. Three teams saw enough potential in him to spend a 1st round pick and all 3 decided later they needed to unload him (well, Houston only unloaded him so they could do another trade). That indicates to me that there was something besides his talent that was keeping him from suceeding in the NBA.
Mirsad Turkan's tenure in NY was strikingly simmiliar to Dan Langhi's;you heard of this guy with potential but it never showed on the court. Granted his playing time was sparse, but when he did get in he wasn't impressive at all.
I already spoke, that in Russia I am sick for CSKA (more for a soccer team, but also on basketball I address(pay) attention). Therefore I can tell about Mirsad Turkcan: He completely has replaced Andrey Kirilenko. In opinion of some experts he plays even better than Andrey. A team CSKA for today with Mirsad Turkcan and without him(it) are two absolutely different teams (as Houston without Francis). He a position plays 4 numbers(rooms). But as in CSKA there are no good centres (5 numbers(rooms)) that sometimes plays and 5. His(its) arrival to Russia became sensation. But though he also is the leader of a team and very well plays, I think, that he is not necessary for Houstons (Europe is not NBA). As in Rockets and so an overabundance of excellent(different) 4 numbers(rooms). More in detail about him it is possible óíàòü under the reference given above.
Dammmmmnn, dp, chill the hell out. clyde's a foreigner. He uses a computer translator to post his stuff (which is very good and helpful, btw!) Notice the foreign accents and parentheses before you get crunk.
Thanks clyde. Who is the best 3 in Russia? Can he play in the NBA like Kirilenko? Let us know. So we can tell Rudy.
glynch Not. Strong third numbers at us are not present Kirilenko is an individual copy Now in CSKA well plays GORDAN GIRICEK (it(he) from Croatia). But it(him) has chosen in 1999 Dallas under 40-ì by number.
The best SF in Europe is doubtless Dejan Bodiroga from Panathinaikos Athen. He is born winner - just read this profile: Dejan Bodiroga In this profile it is written, that he is guard, but I know he is small forward or even point forward. He is, I think, about 28. It is good age. He knows, how much he is worth and, I think, he won't come to Houston just in summerleague or just on 10- days contract. We should give him a good offer like Detroit has done to Zeljko Rebraca. He is not maybe showy (he doesn't make dunks and so on), but he is phenomenal efficient. He is born winner (he has just winning in his blood). He is very versatile. He is the best defender, I have ever seen. Believe me. If you don't believe me, just read the profile.
