Kirk Hinrich has a BYC contract until July 2008. He's more of a Pipe Dream than Mike Miller.

I think the bottom line here is that any team with a talented player on the block (Mike Miller, Andre Miller, Ron Artest) that everybody is talking about getting will want any combination of Scola, Brooks or Landry. I don't think the Rockets make a deal for any major talent because they'd be losing a lot of promising talent that we have on moderate contracts. That's especially hard to find since we have two max guys on our team already. This team is going to rely on what is already in place.

We should trade for Delonte West, he can slash as well having some pretty good handles. Hes also bigger for a pt guard and quick for his size.

As you said, it would take more bodies than a pretender er, contender can consider in February. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want KH - a lot. It just means you have to keep throwing bodies and their contracts on a pile until ka-ching, you can make the sale. And the ship ain't gonna (sail, that is).

BTW - add Nocionis BYC to the deal and there would be a fun scenario to sort. (Pipe dream? Yeah, I want both KH and AN but I also want Gasol for nothing, or Marion for a usta bee, or or or...)

The Nets were trying to get rid of VC too right ? How about reuniting him with his cousin or is he too expensive and we have to give up to many players for him ?

While I really like all of the Rockets' rookies, I am still not sold enough on Aaron Brooks as a long-term solution at the PG position (either as a starter or a top-notch backup) to put him in the "Untradable" category. Also, while I think Landry has a great future ahead of him (he reminds me a lot of Paul Millsap last year), the Rockets might not even be able to keep him beyond this year if another team swoops in and offers him way too much money.

I would be willing to part with Brooks and/or Landry IF the price is right. If the Rockets can get a player the caliber of a Ron Artest or Mike Miller, then the Rockets have to seriously consider parting with some promising young players. Right now, those would be Brooks, Landry and Head (who I have no problem trading).

Luis Scola should be off-limits in my opinion.

The problem is that Kirk is a combo guard, not pure PG. I will be concerned if he is the one to set up the tempo of the game for us. Moreover, he is more expensive than Rafer.

And this makes you confident this squad, as is, can effectively contend in the West, this year, deep into the Spring? I hope they can, I just fail to be sold. Yet.

Of course if the 8 game streak were against Suns/Spurs/Lakes/Mavs/Jazz/Celts/Nugs/Warriors I'd feel better. Of course if the Jan-Feb streaking had my guys in home court seeding instead of knocking on play-off's outer door I'd feel better, more confident. Of course if Rox could get Gasol-esque stud for dud I'd feel better.

Since December 28th, the squad is an overall 19-5. I don't know how much better you can get. That's like the way Boston started out the season.

The Blazers won like, what 13-15 games in a row or something like that? And now they're out of the playoffs?

Yes, How about use expired contracts (deke, Bonzi,Snyder)+SF3 and MJames + cash and picks for Carter. Is that doable?

He can be the third scorer from bench like Stackhouse.

    Lost:

    Golden State
    Boston
    New Orleans
    Philadelphia
    Utah

    Beat:

    Toronto
    Orlando
    New York x 2
    Washington
    Minnesota x 2
    San Antonio
    Seattle x 2
    Portland x 2
    Golden State
    Indiana
    Milwaukee
    Cleveland
    Atlanta
    Sacramento
    ----------------------------------

The point is: Who have we really beaten? The only impressive team from that list is Golden State. The Spurs have been in a terrible slump, as well as Portland. I guess you could add Sacramento to the list. Cleveland didn't have half their rotation players when we played them.

What do you consider broke? Out of the playoffs? The Suns were in first place when they made their trade. I don't think this team has enough to advance in the playoffs, assuming it even makes it.

um...its broke. Take your blinders off. Don't get me wrong, I love the run we're on, but we need to make a move. This year will be another one and done.

Just wait until we start playing the big boys (suns, mavs, jazz, lakers, spurs, hornets). It's not just a coincidence that we're playing well and our schedule is softer than the Texans o-line...

Hopefully the rox can pull it out...we'll have to wait and see. I guarantee you Morey is on the phone talking trades.

I love this team on paper though.

I agree with the above posts, but to be a bit contrarian for a second...

Is it also not a coincidence that the 5 losses we have out of the last 24 games, all 5 were without either Yao or Tracy?

Isn't is also true that our lineup today is considerably different than our lineup when we started our latest run?

Just saying, one could easily make the argument that, just because we haven't played a bunch of Western Conference playoff foes in the last few weeks, doesn't mean we can't beat those teams, when healthy, as currently assembled.

I personally believe any trade that can be construed as a positive tweak should be viewed aggressively, but the current run has dampened anyd esire to make a major move...short of it being an obvious trade scrubs for Gasol type deal.

Who ever thinks that Landry and Brooks are going to contribute and be a part of our rotation come playoff time is just kidding themselves, of course thats if we make the playoffs. You can't rely on unexperienced rookies in the playoffs, remember last year how pathetic our bench was during the Jazz series.

The pieces we got in the offseason have not worked (James & Francis) Scola is now in the starting lineup so our bench really consists of Bonzi, a 150 year old center, a PF who can shoot to save his life, and a couple of rookies. That spells disaster in the West, we have about 4 roster spots being wasted right now. Yeah....we need to make a trade.
