Monday July 31 6:55 PM ET Ex-NBA Player Threatt Pleads Guilty PHOENIX (AP) - Former NBA guard Sedale Threatt pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to a misdemeanor charge of failing to pay child support. Threatt, 38, will receive five years' probation and 100 hours of community service as part of a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's office, said spokeswoman Cathy Colbert. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 28. In April, Threatt paid nearly $172,000 in child support for six of his children as part of a pretrial release agreement. Threatt was accused of owing $46,706 in child support for his 14-year-old son, who resides in Boston. He also was accused of owing $125,000 for five additional children, in Georgia, Ohio, Washington and California. In addition to the back child support, Threatt was ordered in April to pay an additional $20,000 to cover the next two to three months of child support payments in case he didn't pay them. He is now up-to-date with his child support, Colbert said. Threatt faces separate state child support charges in Massachusetts, but is expected to plead guilty as part of a plea deal there, Colbert said. Threatt, who lives in suburban Scottsdale and is hoping to start a real-estate career, played in the NBA from 1983-97 for Philadelphia, Chicago, Seattle, Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers. Court records also show that he earned almost $10 million playing in the NBA from 1990 to 1997. ------------------ "Your not a real member of CC.net unless you have 1000 posts"

I was thinking the same thing Anti. More and More of these type of stories are surfacing. With the influx of high school players to the NBA, I have a feeling it will only get worse. ------------------ "Your not a real member of CC.net unless you have 1000 posts"
