Once again you're reduced to hurling insults. ...and once again, I'll be the bigger man and not respond back in kind. let's keep the D&D civil, brah
Typical of Texx to belittle someone with an addiction. I quit smoking three years ago after 23 years. I know how had it is to quit. Obama has been trying. I wish him the best of luck!
So, first you're against the Declaration of Independence, now you're trying to smear the primary author of the Constitution by suggesting a false patriotism trumps the checks and balances of our Constitutional system. Really now, can't you and texx do anything besides hide behind the Hollywood image of the military and throw little rhetorical grenades? Is that all the argument you can muster? People aren't buying it anymore. (By the way, I was thinking of changing the sig since the whole Petraeus circus has been over for some time, but now I'll leave it for a bit longer.)
Pick the more cowardly proposition: 1. A person who does not believe the invasion of Iraq was properly justified, truly necessary for national security, or ethically sound and who doesn't enlist with the armed forces to fight in the war. 2. A person who believes the invasion of Iraq was properly justified, truly necessary for national security, and ethically sound and who doesn't enlist with the armed forces to fight in the war.
You use the word sissie. If your definition of a "sissie" is people who are killing innocent people in Iraq, you are correct. People who are pro life and who object to needless and countless deaths should be commended for stepping forward. These are the real heroes. A sissie is someone who jumps on the bandwagon, not someone who goes against the grain and stands up for what's right. I thought boycotting was the most civil and peaceful protest to injustice in a democracy. These people are exercising their right to object to American genocide around the world.
I've seen that picture on wonkette before, and I think I've posted here too... But I think it is fake now. His Obamole is missing.
I would say there is not enough information available to answer the question, specifically with regard to the reason for not enlisting. BTW, the same fake question could be raised the opposite direction: 1. A person who believes the government is prosecuting an illegal and immoral war against the innocent people of Iraq and does not engage in armed resistance against such war criminals. 2. A person who does not believe the government is prosecuting an illegal and immoral war against the innocent people of Iraq and does not engage in armed resistance against such war criminals. I wouldn't say someone who refuses to stand in open rebellion against the Bush Administration lacks the courage of their convictions any more than the person who supports the war but doesn't enlist. It turns out we are free in this country to hold whatever political positions we like, and we do not have to do anything to earn the right to speak about them. You don't have to go on strike to support a union, you don't have to buy a gun to support the right to bear arms, you don't have to enlist to support the war, and you don't have to rebel to oppose it.
Our troops have gotten a free ride for too long - so much internet support in the form of internet postings and stickers and flag pins and the occasional halftime declaration from pro athletes. All this coddling is having a negative effect on their toughness and warfighting ability. Do Iraqi insurgents or Talibans have fancy bumper stickers on SUV's? Do they have brilliant minds like texxx or basso or jorge posting away on their behalf? NO.....just a few internet crazies and some old guns. This is what makes them so disciplined. I mean, just think what I could do if people posted on the internet about their support for me all day long. With all that support, gentlemen, the sky would be the limit. But instead I have to deal with a profound lack of support, other than some friends and family, and basically just pull myself up by the ol' bootstraps. Life ain't so easy.
*I remember vividly how i wanted to just die after losing both my leg and my arm and seeing a fellow marine next to me dead, i remember saying from the pain "just shoot me already".. however an older marine who was also wounded when shrapnel tore out his right eye and his whole nose crawled beside me and yelled out "man the F up! think about all those that supports you, think about the american people's strong support for u! don't let them down! ure a F'in marine!" after hearing that, i began to seriously toughen up and gaved it all ive got with my remaining strength until i passed out due to lose of blood... why did i became mentally strong? because knowing the fact that there are people who are rooting for us, there are people who support us, there are people who wants us to win... i knew i couldnt let them down... the little support you guys give to us, really goes a long way... your not going to understand this unless u were in my position.. *insurgents are disciplined?!?!?! are u kidding me man?? they don't even wear a uniform!!!! they wear civilian clothes to hide themselves among the innocent civilians... u call that diciplined? to me i call that cowardness... fighting style? we go out there looking for them by foot..., u know what they do, hide behind the backs of civilians and when we turn our back on them, they pop out out of nowhere and shoot us... absolute cowards...
^ sorry man, you can tell your story, but the internet support train stops right now. I no longer e-support you. Basso is going to have to work overtime.
its okay man! no offense taken! those are your well deserved rights...! and i appreciate you excersicing them! it makes me feel good that i didnt go through hell for nothing and the people of this country are practicing their rights to disagree with one another...
