http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5539326.html Losing Diop hurts Dallas' front line, as he is the primary backup to starting center Erick Dampier. However, Diop - who is a free agent after this season - had fallen out of favor with Johnson lately. If the Nets don't sign him next year, should we go after him? He could be a good replacement for Mutombo....
i dont' know if nets are in rebuilding mode, but if they are, they wouldn't want mj. and also, i'm pretty sure stackhouse says he is not going anywhere, but dallas, and rather just rest the 30 days.
I think NJ is smart. They got a young PG who can be very good in the future for Kidd who is good but his window is closing fast. So they can maintain the contribution from a good PG for years while Mav will run out of PG soon with Kidd when he aged. MJ would be a solid back up PG for Devin Harris and he can play 2 also. As for Stackhouse, he can't have much say if he traded. Anyway Stackhouse can be benched for all I care if he doesn't want to play with us as MJ is being benched now anyway. I just don't want him to go back to Dallas.
Does NJ really want Devin Harris? In the three way deal Devin Harris was acutally going to Portland before. If so is Devin Harris available for trade? I would love to pick him up. His easily one of the better defensive guards in the league. He will solve our main problems involving fast penetrating point guards (CP, TP, DW et al) oh and he won't be a problem for us anymore either. I clearly remember a lost to Dallas this season involved Devin Harris drawing a foul on Yao ming in the waning moments. I would love to pick him up and his contract, his a keeper either way
what the hell? stackhouse is getting traded, then bought out, then back to dallas? that ain't right. the nba needs a committee to stop these types of trades
thats what I mean earlier three way trades had Harris going to Dallas which brings into question to me, does NJ actually want Harris? if not is he able to come here
Contract Contract You know how much Kidd is getting paid at the moment Makes what they owe Devin Harris look like puny nothing. Oh that and Kidd is being a bad locker room influence
I think the previous three thread did not materialise probably because NJ realised they need a good PG to replace Kidd.
If the Nets were willing to trade Harris back, what would they have gotten from this whole trade? A whole lotta nothing! There's no way they trade Harris, he is the entire reason they made this trade
this is what puzzles me they would have gotton NOTHING for the three way trade that fell through (it fell through btw because Portland got the jitters not NJ) I don't understand what they want
I thought the thread meant to talk about Diop not Harris, no? To me Diop is more valuable and important than Dampier, also young and cheap.
Yeah, they have got him locked for years.Diop will be a FA at the end of the season and might possibly be back in Dallas next year IMO. It would be nice to see him as Deke's future replacement without having to give up our rookies. If it doesn't work out,no big deal. Management can look elsewhere too.
Portland may have had the jitters but NJ is clearly looking to rebuild.Having Harris can help them concentrate on getting a replacement for Carter and also adding more size/quickness in the frontcourt for their future.
Sounds like Stackhouse will get bought out, but he can't re-sign with Dallas for 30 days. Hollinger thinks he might sign with someone else, maybe Cleveland or Detroit. Or SA or Phoenix, who also have the cap to sign him and might just want to spite Dallas.
Signing Diop would be an option if his price is reasonable. Another alternative is getting a backup center in the draft, if we can't find a PG we like at our pick. I don't think we'll stay at the 14-15 pick, but nbadraft.net has us taking Hibbert, and Thabeet is in that area also.
