Dallas gave up Harris? All of a sudden I'm not so afraid anymore. Harris can shoot lights out. J-Kidd, not so much.
The Eastern Conference is more and more becoming the D-league of the Western Conference...wonder when Stern will do something about this.
Because Miami didn't get any talent in return for Shaq. And because long term, New Jersey would rather have Jason Kidd than Devin Harris and two first round picks.
I think the gap between the East and West will remain. It won't even out like the past as David Stern believes will happen. In this day in age, the players are actually calling shots and deciding where they want to play. McGrady wanted Houston...Kidd wanted Dallas...etc. Eventually, most 'star' players on troubled teams in the East will want to "play for a contender." All the contenders will be in the West. Good luck evening out, Mr. Stern.
Great move for...everyone in the West but Dallas. I have always heard you don't trade big for small. How much worse is it if you trade big (Diop), middle (Stackhouse), and small (Harris)...along with draft picks...for small? I almost have to believe that you can effectively remove Dallas from the list of contenders this season. This will blow up in their face worse than their playoff loss to GS last season.
Wow this years Western Conference playoffs are going to be amazing for nba fans you have: Spurs - Defending nba champions, can they step it up and repeat as champions? Suns - The big Diesel, the most dominant player of our generation playing with a team that runs and guns, does shaq have enough in the tank? Lakers - Black mamba finally has a championship contender team again since shaqs departure, will we see kobe do big things in the playoffs again? Mavs - The best playmaker in the game playing with the current MVP Hornets - The breakout team of the year lead by a chris paul, a future MVP Jazz - not much except they did get a steal in Korver Nuggets - The first full season melo and A.I. have played together, how much better will they be this year compared to the last? Rockets - The best rookie class in the nba, along with the fact that other teams are making trades which seem to help houston, can mac finally get out of the first round and possibily take us to the promised land.
"I feel great. I get 30 days to rest, then I'll be right back," Stackhouse said. "I ain't going nowhere." Stackhouse is going back to the Mavs if bought out. I don't understand why they will buy him out. They will be contending in the playoffs. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3244102
This was the portland deal: The New Jersey Nets are in serious negotiations with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers about a blockbuster three-way trade that would send Jason Kidd to the Mavericks, league sources said Wednesday afternoon. In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs' Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas. The Nets would also receive at least one future No. 1 pick and cash. It's expected that New Jersey would work a buyout with Stackhouse and allow him to be a free agent. Other players could be included to balance the exchange of contracts. The Record (N.J.) first reported Wednesday morning that the three teams were in discussions. League sources say that Nets president Rod Thorn has been working the phones relentlessly since Kidd went public on Monday with his trade request. Thorn seems determined to get a deal done soon and may be looking to completely remake the Nets. He also has been dangling guard Vince Carter. Kidd, 34, is making $19.7 million this season, and has one year left in on his contract at $21.4 million. Kidd The addition of Kidd could make the Mavericks sudden favorites in the West, where they have had two straight heart-breaking playoff runs and currently have the third-best record in the conference.
Dallas has been slumping lately, although without Harris. Wasn't it Avery who said they weren't going to make a move and he loves Harris? Loyalty. Harris and 2 first round picks for Kidd is a good trade for NJ - nothing like when Memphis got raped. Speaking of, you know their going to be asking everything for Mike Miller. I bet they didn't like the backlash received from the Gasol trade, so they'll be careful about any more deals right now.
That statement right there should ban Stackhouse from re-signing with the Mavs as long as Kidd is there. This is basically Stackhouse as a member of the Mavericks. The new rule should be: A boughtout player cannot re-sign with his former team after the trade unless he plays for a different team for at least one season.
dallas has been to the nba finals after trading nash. nash was a good player for dallas, he became great in phoenix. not saying he wouldn't have in dallas but you must factor that into the evaluation of letting him go.
does stackhouse even have to report to the nets? Wow, 30 days of rest lol Wait didnt joe smith and the timberwolves get in trouble for a similar situation a while bach?
New jersey should wait on buying him out and see if they can get any offers for an expiring for him that way they wont have to buy him out. or wait long enough to buy him out so he cant be eligible for the mavs playoff roster
The antidote is for NJN to TRADE Stack, NOT BUY'M OUT, and get assets - and save $. Many GMs should be thinking the same think.
He was commenting on the trade on the article as if he was still on the team. so i think he has it all planned out
