lol yeah just look at their sterling results since the liberals took control of congress. we're heading for a recession. fabulous
How do you know who to strike then? Rimrocker's car comment was in relation to making the mistake of entering Iraq. It was not a threat - you yourself said al quaeda only came there afterwords. The WMD argument was a sham, and one that was probably known as a sham before the war even stated. Ergo, the invasion and occupation was a waste of lives, money, and international respect. I don't support that. Don't fire unless fired upon is more than a rule - it's a methodology to limit erroneous and unnecessary death and destruction. Does it suck sometimes? Sure - but that's the price one pays for maintaining the moral high ground of righteous defense - as opposed to senseless aggression. Isn't that what you were referring to in this quote below? Refreshing. Thanks for the comments.
Oh lordy. First l'il t thinks Obama controls the polls and the futures market. Now he thinks a Congress with a Democratic majority for a little more than a year has more influence on the current economy than complete Republican control of all branches government for most of the previous 6 years. I think he believes that today's Democratic Congress should get in their time machines and go back and do something about the housing bubble.
it wasn't a sham, it may have been incorrect (and i don't believe that it was), but the consensus worldwide was iraq had WMD. in any case, that wasn't the sole reason for taking out saddam, as has been documented here, repeatedly.
The best part: up until just now, he has been constantly touting how strong the economy is. His posts are little more than RyanED with a modicum of spelling and grammar. He has the credibility of that iraqi information minister guy. His posting style is the online equivalent of guys who drive huge trucks to compensate for their small penis. His reading comprehension is non-existant, his conviction fickle as the wind. At least basso is consistently nuts.
Them. After we know who "them" is. People are greedy and horrible. They wage wars of aggression and hatred. You are correct, accurate, and cynical. I like that. However, if you seek to end those wars with a war of aggression, you've only continued the cycle. Vigilante justice only works if the viglante is 100% correct, all the time. That ain't gonna happen either. Thus my support of the credo of reaction, not preemption.
how about us as a human race is just really really r****ded? haha.. hey man i appreciate our lil debate! it was fun! who said left wing and right wing wouldnt work eh? in my opinion it takes both wings... so the eagle can fly...
Once again you're reduced to hurling insults. ...and once again, I'll be the bigger man and not respond back in kind. let's keep the D&D civil, brah
Except we know that people in the administration were talking about Iraq from one of the first Cabinet meetings after W was inaugurated. I agree OBL started it, but it was a stretch and, I think, a strategic blunder to confuse going after OBL with removing Saddam from power through the use of force. This has become much more problematic as we now know that the reasons given us for the Iraq invasion have largely proven to be not true. As I think you mentioned earlier. we should have stayed on mission with going after OBL. I'm not anti-war. I'm pro-war if it is the last option and in the national interest. I am, however, definitely anti-Iraq War. Again, was the Iraq war in the national interest? Did Iraq pose an immediate threat? I don't think so. Furthermore, if you make pre-emptive war a policy, it's hard to draw that line. Yep, I'm a Liberal. I think I'm more of a traditional one than many of the folks running around today, but I do believe in the rights of individuals, restrained capitalism, a robust national defense (but not an imperialistic use of the military), separation of church and state, civilian rule over the military, an open and transparent government, a free marketplace of ideas, universal education, and universal health care to name a few things. I'm sitting at a desk now, but every summer I spend weeks sleeping in a tent, sucking smoke, going without showers, (I do manage to brush my teeth at least once a day), being away from family, and working under stressful conditions on large forest fires. While our jobs aren't the same by any means, there are some similarities... for instance, countless firefighters can't stay in relationships because they feel driven to show up for every fire, be part of the team, and not let their fellow firefighters down. And though the chances are much, much smaller than in your job, there is always the thought that a death or serious injury could happen at any time. That's a long way of saying I think I understand a little of your calling and I'm pretty sure I understand the appeal, as twisted as it may seem to others. All that said, we still find ourselves where we started in that we disagree over what makes us strong, particularly from the outside. I think the Iraq War has weakened us for a generation or more and accomplished little if anything in the national interest.
Good idea. Best you stick to contradictory and illogical posts borne out of intellectual scurvy. Stick to what you know, as they say. EDIT: As I think about it more - those were not insults per say, rather they are observations. If they came off as insulting - it's more a statement about your "contributions" to this board then anything else.
I appreciate ure insights man! so your a fire fighter? wow thats what i wanted to be after i retired from the marines... that or to become a SWAT officer... tk tk tk .. but now, thats impossible.. oh well thats life, ***** happens... gotta move on!

Hey, I tried that at the very beginning of this thread. It worked until the thread became actually interesting, as opposed to the nonsensical pseudo-insult you intended it to be. When that transformation ocurred, you should have gone "poof" as par the norm. Instead you stuck around, looked like a fool (again, par for the course) and now are crying about it because you have nothing to stand on. Some things never change texxy.
Not so often... usually what you would call Rear Echelon... mostly logistics and support functions on fires that will burn for more than a day or two. Firefighting is a young person's game... swinging a pulaski for 12 hours straight is tough... and I'm not that young anymore. I also do a lot of teaching in the off-season... organizational effectiveness, situational awareness, Lessons Learned... that type of stuff.
