Russ small said he would trade Francis for Dirk nowitski in a minute if it was offered.

Hes a damn fool and to me knows jack about whats going on. It amazes me that people always have something bad to say about one player but a fool called up and could not even remember Catos name before he bashed him.

Of course I wouldnt do it, but its not that bad of a deal. Dirk is also someone you can build a team around. Granted he is not as good as Francis, but if we just had to make a trade its not that bad of a deal.

Tall player with equal skill is better then small player with equal skill.

    Yes, I would do it.

    Huh?

I was listening to that show whenever he was asked the question and he didn't say "in a minute", he actually took forever to make up his mind and finally said Dirk, but then started to change to Francis.

    I'd take Dirk too...

Francis for Nowitski straight up wouldn't work...Dallas would actually have to give US another player...Dirk is only making $2.1 million this season...clearly the best bargain in the NBA...

could you imagine Nowitski and Griffin in the same frontcourt?

BTW, did Vernon Maxwell ever play for the Mavs? He's listed on Real GM as an unrestricted free agent for them...

what would the mavs do with ugly boy Nash?

I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Sounds like some of you guys don't realize that big man is needed to win the West.

As good as Stevie is, he rarely shows up in games that really matter. Moreover, he spends too much time partying and such, to the point where I don't know if I'd want to invest a max salary contract with him.

If the Rockets would dedicate themselves to getting a PG better than Moochie to start, then I would do that trade. But if the Rockets were happy with starting Moochie until his contract ran out, this would be a crappy trade.

Yep thats how it goes in Houston. When Philly was ready to ship A.I. to Detroit because of behavior problems the Philly fans backed Iverson up 100% but Francis misses a couple of games now everyone wants to unload him. How could you unload a player like Francis???? It makes you wonder who really has the worst fans in the NBA (And its not Philly).

I think it's a trade of fairly equal value. They're both franchise players. But, I wouldn't bother since we already have power forward well-covered. Why would we deplete our backcourt to gain a redundency in the frontcourt?

As for Francis not showing up for big games and partying too much... that's bull.

And yeah, Vernon Maxwell did play for Dallas last year.

A Dirk+EG frontline would be deadly, who the hell would Shaq cover?

The thought of Moochie starting sucks though, and I'd try to work a deal to get a somewhat decent PG, or maybe I'd just tank the rest of the year and draft Jason Williams...

Better yet, let's tank this year AND next year and pick up LeBron James in the 2003 draft. :D

If I was in the east I'd do Dirk for Steve. If I was in the west, I'd have to think about it more.

Francis, IMO, is better than Dirk. But, if we did draft Jason Williams, then I too MIGHT see what we could get for either one.

Only because we need help at the 2, 3, and 5. This is a TEAM sport and ISO's will only get you so far. Somebody please tell this to Rudy or find someone who will make us play like a team.

I am so tired of watching dribbling exhibitions.

    No.

    Keep Stevie Franchise.

Dirk is good, but he's not a point guard.

As silly as it may seem,, we flat out suck without Francis. He's a floor leader, an emotional leader, a leader by example, and an All-Star. And he's gotten better since the injury. Rid the migranes, and we're headed in the right direction.

I mean, yeah, it would be nice to have the German Sensation starting, but my heart would ache to see steve in something other than his jetstream pajamas.

I'm still getting over Frozen Dream. :(

Well, Dirk played SF for a while in Dallas. Howard was the PF and Bradley was the center. I think that system would work for us. But like you say, I wouldn't want to deplete our PG position unless we had a much better option than Moochie in the wings somewhere.

you guys ever wonder what Dallas thinks? I'm sure they wouldn't trade Dirk for Stevie, especially since Nash is playing good this season and their backup pg is a former all-star. Come on now..
