So right now all I got is basic cable, the one with the FOXSW-Sports soes I can watch the Rockets home games, oh and of course got the golf Channel. My bill with my internet (Roadrunner) comes out to about 89.03 per month. I hardly go out, don't spend alotta cash on clothes or stuff like that so thats my monthly treat! But wait, it gets better... Tomorrow, gonna kick it up a few notches to the Digital Extra package *hears applause inside his head*. Its only 10bucks more a month AND I get all kinds of crap like 6 different FOX Sports, some Encores, half a dozen or so Discovery, Independent Film channel, oh yeah and OLN, which my buddy in San Antonio has and its a pretty cool channel (shows the TDF).... So 100 bucks a month for a big homebody, not too bad huh? Oooooh, I can't wait!YES! So watcha got? How much ya spend?
I've got DirecTV and spend about $80 a month. This is most of my entertainment budget. I'm a big 'ol homebody and love to chill at night with the TV and computer going... I get all regional Fox Sports Channels, 5 HBO's, 4-5 STARZ channels, IFC and a few others along with 100's of other channels. A lot of money, but considering I don't go out to clubs, bars or see too many bands/live music, I can justify spending the $$. what do you got?
My wife and I got rid of our cable, because we figured we spent too much time watching television. Now, we watch commercial TV and PBS just as much. I am thinking about signing back up for cable.
I tried to go without cable for a week...I couldn't do it. btw, digital cable only has 3 FSN channels - pacific, atlantic, and central. Not very good unless you like college sports or regional sports reports.
Had Direct TV for 4+ years spent about $100 a month, then cable modems came out, got Basic cable too, about $30 a month, then realized that Digital Cable had the same things as Direct TV (Sans NFL, but that exclusive contract is up this year) so dropped Direct TV upgraded to Digital Cable, and now am about $80 a month. Got it? DaDakota
Yeah, I'm around $75 for the digital cable. I had DirectTv for a year, and I absolutely hated it...it was hard to jump around from channel to channel, among other things.
In Austin, some areas have the option of going with Grande Communications www.grandecom.com It's a bundled service company - phone, internet, and cable. You can build your own package. And the offer premium channels for very very low rates compared to Time Warner. Once the NBA season is over I'm thinking of switching companies. Right now I don't think Grande carries League Pass (I've never asked) but it does have In Demand PPV.
Knowing most of you'll just watch ESPN any damn way (except for the married folk, who probably sneak in some Lifetime too).
The extended Digital Cable package from Time Warner didn't work out for me. I had it for about a year, and the additional costs (renting the box and its controller) didn't sense considering that the only extended channel I ever watched was ESPN Classic. I've got the $40 package, plus RoadRunner, so my monthly bill comes out to $95 or so. Not too bad. RoadRunner has been worth a lot more than they've charged for it. I absolutely love it.
Actually it is legit. I was paying 60 to Adelphia for digital cable with only a few HBO's and a separate charge of 40 to @Home for the cable modem. Then I saw that Adelphia was running this special last July that included everything for a smooth $100. I jumped on it..... I was still on the @Home network...just paying Adelphia for it. Now @Home has bit the big one and Adelphia took over their service completely around here and promptly raped their usenet servers Half the newsgroups at half the speed....woo hoo! Interestingly enough...the rates on utilities around here(Colorado Springs) were rated as some of the lowest in the nation.
Digital Cable, extended package including 10 HBOs, 10 Cinemaxes, 6 Showtimes and 6 Encore movie channels. Two TVs hooked up...$75 a month
I got the deal and a half. I switched from the Dish Network and Time Warner gave me 1 month free, no set up fees plus 11 months of digital cable with all the movie channels and Roadrunner for 1/2 price. I pay just over $60 per month for cable and Roadrunner!!!
44.99 Cable Modem 39.99 Digital Cable 7.00 HBO 0.00 NBA League Pass (I already paid the fee off) 0.00 NHL GAmes (I don't know why I get it for free) 3 or 5 bucks for the 3 Fox Sports Digital channels Add it all up and I pay around 100 bucks a month. I have TWC Digital Cable btw. It's worth the extra bucks to get Fox Sports Digital. You get to see the other Regions Fox Sports Report. So, if some of you guys are out of town, it'd be great to watch the SW Sports Report to keep up with Texas sports.
