i just finished the fountainhead by ann rynd and need a new book to read...something entertaining and yet still has a good message about life. no hemingway books please... thank you
I really liked A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. About a Boy, soon to be a motion picture, by Nick Hornby, is also great. American Pastoral was also a good read. I'm trying to get through The Corrections right now, and it is tough. Maybe one of the most overrated books ever.
I suggest some Tolkein. Lord of the Rings is awesome, but my favorite is The Silmarillion. The Dune series is good, Tom Clancy is good... "Chesapeake" by James Michener is one of my favorite books of all time.
I would very much suggest doing a search on the BBS for books. There have been several threads like this with great suggestions. I'm not saying this to be critical or anal but to bring to your attention many titles that people probably won't bring up again. Good luck!
on the road - jack kerouac the razor's edge - somerset maugham black hawk down yeah. do a search on the bbs..
i read the LOTR trilogy about 6 months ago so im going to wait awhile until i pick them up again. i guess ill go look at my last book thread for suggestions too.
Have you read any Faulkner? Sound and the Fury - the masterpiece of American fiction. As I Lay Dying - Good intro to Faulkner's stream-of-consciousness style. The Wild Palms - So sad your body aches when you read it.
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk (author of fight club) here is an excerpt Although some are put off by the areas Chuck ventures to in his novels, make no mistake his writing is some of the best available.
Harry Potter! I also just fininshed 1984 and have started on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, both of which are very entertaining.
