Hydropolis, the world's first underwater hotel. Entirely built in Germany and then assembled inDubai, it is scheduled to be completed by 2009 after many delays.
I thought I remember reading about one or seeing one on tv that you had to dive to get to. Might be wrong cause there has been many nights of drinking between now and then.
So is the bottom floor like the penthouse? Go ahead and sign me up for a room thats at the shallowest level...the thought of waking up in the middle of the night with water streaming through the windows...
Why the hell are you hating on Dubai?, can't stand people living/visiting a rich and beautiful city? Palm Island Haters.
anyone agree that the sentiment in this thread is probably how the rest of the world viewed us 10-20 years ago? having said that, why couldn't we have been first to build an underwater hotel? edit: apparently we were haha nice try dubai... now get back to the drawing board and try something we haven't done yet!
There is already an underwater hotel in the USA! Jules Undersea Lodge Key Largo, Fla. This former research lab is located underwater in a tropical mangrove habitat, and guests must scuba dive 21 feet to get to the main lobby. It can accommodate up to six guests, and each air-conditioned room features a 42-inch window in the water. The dining room has custom mermaid and "mer-man" tables. Our only question: Where's the pool? Rates range from $250 to $395 per night.
