I don't see Pac-10 much so please don't be offended by my lack of 21st century knowledge on him. Does anyone know if his defense has improved any lately? How's his lateral movement? Offensive game reminds me of Battier, but that could be that they do alot of scoring behind the line. I don't remember him being a bigtime defender like battier, but I remember him getting up and down the court better than battier.
No way. I saw him live against Duke in the East sub-regionals. He was not impressive at all and didn't even belong on the court with Battier-- at that point. Maybe he has or will improve. I did like Earl Watson and Dan Gadzuric, though!
thx, haven't seen him play in a while. I remember him being a mad bomber like Battier, but Battier being a complete player was way more than just a 3pt shooter. I have an affinity for players that hit on average 3 threes a game on few attempts. I remember Kapono having the some ballhandling and instincts on passing. I draw a blank on his defense and rebounding ability.
Kapono is a poor man's Wally Z. With that being said, a team in need of outside shooting might take him late in the 1st round.
I'd echo kidrock8. Granted it was just one game, but Kapono seemed very slow both laterally and forward. He didn't shoot very well in the Duke game, but he has been a good shooter over his career ... or so the legend has it!
I actually am a big Kapono fan for some reason. However, I will be objective and say that he is not a great athlete. A good comparison might be Walt Williams. I think Kapono is the best 3 pt shooter who would come out of this draft (assuming he leaves early).
It would not surprise me if the local team, LA Lakers, picked Kapono. They are always looking for 3 pt shooters.
