good question. the commute would become unaffordable, which would put a premium on real estate near business districts. of course, we have business districts scattered all through town.
LOL Chavez is an idiot. Oil is a worldwide market. If he doesn't sell his oil to the US, the US will get it from somebody else. The only real harm would be possible increased transport costs. Whoop de doo. Hugo is merely trying to rabble-rouse and demonize the US to win more support at home (which he needs, apparently....)
...and to that moron who said that oil companies were raping countries of their resources, keep in mind that the entire middle east would be a bunch of poverty stricken Bedouins were it not for western oil companies showing them how to extract oil.
you know that there is no set height for that building as of yet. the construction company was told to build as high as they could go.
where is that.......and is that building really going to be surrounded by water all around like in the pic??
that is in dubai here is another pic of the modern day tower of babel it's amazing what can happen in less than 15 years
I was there last in 1999 and there was a lot of stuff. But photos and word-of-mouth descriptions from friends who've been recently seem unbelievable.
I love how you throw in personal insults in ever post you make….…...my point was that these countries had bad deals initially, but that has obviously gradually changed…mostly due to these countries nationalizing their industries and standing up to these corps. But I don't expect your ignorant a$s to know that.
Now they are poverty stricken with a tiny percentage of rich nobility who often corrupt or oppressive.
not to dispute this, but which countries would these be? jordan, lebanon, syria, saudi? certainly not iran or the uae.
I was at least partially joking. Saudi certainly, Yemen(which is in the 25 poorest and least developed countries in the world. Bahrain has some poverty trouble, as does Oman. I would never really generalize all of the middle east in such a way. That's why it was mostly a joke.
You're blinded by your unfailing manlove for your Muslim brothers in the Middle East to be able to use even simple logic when discussing this topic. My oil industry knowledge is 10x better than your ignorant religion blinded posts any day of the week.
Texx, I know that the old lyondell-citgo refinery in Houston is set up to handle the heavy crude from venzuela. What would happen if they could no longer get the heavy crude? Would they convert their equipment or would they have to shut down?
They'd probably just switch to heavy sour crude from the Middle East, instead. Retooling is possible but expensive Citgo = PDVSA = Venezuela, though, so Chavez might do something irrational
