Do they have a sports section at the Oscars? And what was the call on that play? Did he get the call?
That's hilarious. Sounds like the NBA needs to just not give Ginobili a single call of any kind -- even when clobbered -- for say 3 or 4 games in a row... should send home the message.
After the game, my son and I re-enacted that play between ourselves several times because it was so hilarious. Thankfully the refs didn't buy it.
i wouldnt call that a flop, he was trying to jump into the opposing player missing everything. dont think he would have gotten the call either way
If that isn't a flop, I have no idea of what is. You're supposed to flail AFTER getting touched. If he would have just jumped straight up, would have been an uncontested jumper. LOL
Don't these referees review the games they called? I don't understand how they don't see that there are players in this league who are consistently flopping. Ginobili is a master-flopper, probably the worst in the league right now, but if the refs are going to continue to give him the calls, he's never going to stop. I can't say I blame him.
If they reviewed the games they called, every player that guarded Yao would be fouled out the next time they guard him.
Nice job by Tony Allen to fight through the screen and not leave his feet trying to block the shot. Hopefully, Allen got a Tommy Point. The highlight I'm still waiting for is the one where Rasheed loses it and makes Manu a permanent part of the free throw painted area.
Mike Breen was trying to compliment Ginobili and asked JVG what makes Ginobili such a good player. JVG goes something like this with no hint of humor: "He is a very unique player. He contorts his body and he is a flopping player and he plays with a lot of energy both offensively and defensively. He is a good shooter as well." Zing. I love JVG. He is brutally honest and he doesn't care if he offends anybody. He's got a great sense of humor and he's very knoledgable. He is by far the best color commentator on TV.
The refs know. There are just times you can't do anything about it. It happens so fast that the appearance of contact is there and they have to make the call. Well, I guess they don't have to make the call, but you know what I mean. It's good, though, when they can recognize such a stupid attempt. Now, if the NBA would institute a FIFA like rule where a player can be given a yellow card if a dive is apparent. Maybe give him a technical or something.
Looked like he picked up his dribble as he went around that pick, too. Should have been double-dribble, right?
Maybe Allen learned his lesson after biting on Chauncey Billups' fake at the buzzer in the first Celtics/Pistons game this season.
Add the Jazz to the list. You don't get to see it as much as Karla and Flopton, but they made it into an art form.
Yes, that was great by Tony Allen. I am glad he didn't fall for it. He just kept his hands down and let Manu look like a complete fool. He tried to do it again sort of at the very end of the game. Hopefully the Rockets can continue to catch the Spurs and guys like Tony Allen will continue to make plays that make the Spurs look stupid.
