I sincerely hope this is the only online board that starts bashing players after one of their better games of the season. Cuttino shot well last night, didn't make many mental mistakes, and as a whole kept us in the game. But, to no surprise, the first thread about him suggests trading him. Yeah, you guys aren't biased.
Oh yeah, people have been saying that we have the best backcourt in the league, so now when one of them misses a shot, a supposed fan would wish we'd have traded one of them? I HATE THESE PANIC POSTS! Good grief...
Calm down boys! I didn't see the Philly game. The poll was not placed because of that or any other single game. In fact, I hardly ever see any Rockets games from here on the East Coast. I follow the Rockets from ClutchCity.net and virtually everyone agrees the Cuttino is unreliable-- even those of you who are infatuated! We have an exciting backcourt. When will it be a winning one? It's merely a question. You need not feel threatened by it. You guys are too hilarious....

what do we have to show for supposedly having the best backcourt in the NBA?? i've been hearing this for quite a while now, and i have to say, it rings incredibly hollow with me. it's all about winning. having said that, i'm not ready to give up on Cat just yet...but i do wish he and steve both would try to play a little defense. when you combine for 40 points, but the other team's backcourt combines for 50, that's not a victory. offensive skills are great...being an exciting player is real neat...but ultimately it's about having more points at the end of the game than the other team does.

We're winning at about a 60% clip when both Steve and Cat are in the lineup. Considering the limited amount of interior scorers we have on this team, that's actually remarkable. The reason for the record, of course, is Steve's injury... Moochie and Cat isn't quite the best backcourt in the league.
What if we had let Cat go to Toronto? Let's see, we had the 9th pick. We could have had any of these Two Guards: Courtney Alexander, Desmond Mason, Quentin Richardson, or Morris Peterson. Or we could have had Etan Thomas to help in the pivot. Even if we had still done the Milwaukee trade, we could have had Mason, Richardson, or Peterson. Then you have to figure out the new money available with a rookie shooting guard instead of veteran money paid to Cuttino. I know that some of you can bear to do it, but it is fun to think about... Do you really think we'd be that much worse off? In the short run, I doubt we'd be much better but maybe so in the long run. We go to stop thinking about what is OK or NOT-OK with Steve and Cuttino. They have no long term commitment to us, do they?

" You are right Cat , it strikes me that when Francis is out both Moochie and Mobley both feel obligated to raise their offensive game rather than let others raise their level of contribution. Both are much better players when Francis is on the court (they stick to their roles and abilities). What can be done about this is anyones guess. Good luck Rudy!
As far as I can tell the fact that our best 2 front line players on the whole team are a 19 year old and a hard working but undersized-less-than-Barkleyesk-PF is somewhat more responsible for our losses than the guard play. I guess we could break up 1/2 of the only part of team that is even remotely consistent in playing effective NBA basketball right now, but I personally don't think that is a good idea. Maybe it is just me.
This simple poll has got people reading so much into it... it's unbelievable. I'm not blaming Cuttino for anything. Many more Rockets players bear more responsibility for our dismal showing than does Cuttino. I'm just asking a question: if you could roll back the calendar, would you place such a priority on re-signing him. He's an OK player, I just don't think he's all that great and, for my money, not a 10-year player for the Rockets. If he would play smarter, I might change my opinion. It affected our draft strategy-- a draft which has not proven to be productive for us as we all know. Story was that we liked Mo Pete but thought him too small to play the 3-- we were slotting Cuttino for that.
RR, my sarcasim wasn't directed to you posing the question, but to others really showing their blinders concerning anything positive Mobley does. Fair question for you to pose, I don't think it is a difficult one for me to answer however.
