Lets face it, injuries or no injuries this isn't a good team. They may be avg at best, but nothing to bring fear into any opponets heart. Its not like this can't be corrected in time, its jut this team overacheived last yr, just like philly and everyone expected to take the next step. Other than drafting Griffin and finding Torres, we made no attempt to increase get better except thinking that Francis and Mobley would get better. Thats ok, but other teams young players improved too. Watching this team just makes anyone who's ever followed basketball scratch your head and wonder. Its not only bad play on the court, its bad coaching also. If a coach can take credit for winning, they have to take it for night after night of bad execution. Rudy T's failure to get a good play when the time is critical has to be a issue. His insistence on the 3 guard lineup, forcin Steve to chase Iverson through screen after screen probably contributed to his turnovers and poor shooting. Not only does he have to try to break down the defense every time, but he was chasing Iverson around the court. How come guys don't have to chase our guards around the court? How come our guards have to dribble into the teeth of the defense and kick out for long jumpers? Its not like this team is in the bottom half as far as talent goes, but we're not in the top half either. Most times the difference in the middle has to do with execution and coaching. This team plays no defense nor do they share the ball in top spots, couple that with a coaching staff that just don't get it and it equals up to what we see as fans. Now the debate can go on and on about where to lay the blame and theres enough to go around, but bad teams have bad coaching. Look no further than the shots we have gotten in the clutch. I don't care what Francis is shooting, if he is your Franchise, why give it to a guy that was in the cba 2 yr ago?
Because he has hit many game winning shots in his short career..... How many game winners has Stevie produced?
Hasnt' that been discussed ad naseum? How many has Moochie really hit? 3, 4? Francis has at least had 2 or 3 of his own certainly. You should give it to Francis everytime (is it a coincidence that in all of the Detroit, Utah, and last night's Philly game, the only one we won was when Francis had the ball at the end. They were all crappy iso plays, but at least Francis was able to break down a defender and drive into the lane!) BTW, I agree with DaDakota...broken record.
Ditto. I've been readin this from leebeegeebee for weeks and got jumped for calling him out on it. Broken record is putting it nicely. This is not "The Truth", this is your opinion. Get that straight.
DD and Behad, thats true. I guess since we lose the same way all the time, the problems remain the same. Its kind of sickening to know most times at the end of a tie game, we'll end up with a crappy shot by someone other than our franchise player. Its a frustrating game by a frustrating coach. I guess I'll get used to it like evryone else. There has to be a better way though.
Actually francis has only hit one game winning shot in his career at least according to chron.com http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/rox/1197611 Also considering how he wasn't really shooting the ball that great, i can see why he didn't take the last shot. That being said i would have still like to have seen him take the last shot
wouldn't it have made more sense to have the 2 hot players on the court (cat & eddie) run a pick and roll???
Thanks Leebigez, you are the Truth, everything is cleared up now, guess i may aswell go and follow the Lakers now, assuming you think they are a good team.
