I am not sure about "going back". Their defense has been pretty good for most of the season. I believe they are still #2 in opponents FG%. The difference now from beginning of the season is that their offense looks much smoother. I also saw something on defense which was Un-Gundy like. Realizing Hawks have no outside shooters, Rockets went on zone defense, That stretch opened up the game as Hawks kept missing shot after shot from outside.
JJ should be ashamed of himself. He opened up a big can of "I don't care" right before the game and his teammates are following his lead. Props to the Rockets for pile-driving the other team instead of playing down to their level. Clutch, I don't see the Hawks that often but they don't seem to have a big problem scoring when they play with effort. They lose because they make mistakes on defense late in tight games and on offense they revert to relying too much on JJ, which makes them easy to defend. Watching them tonight makes you wonder how they are 21-25 instead of 11-35.
I liked the rockets running that 2-3 zone. it helps save energy, and in theory, it makes it somewhat easier to rebound. this also gives hayes a chance to get more minutes because he will do good in zone.
He is scorer. He's supposed to look to score first. However, that does not mean he also looks for open teammates. No one will blame a person with his talent and abilities looking for his shot first, but what makes him special is that he has tremendous vision and is not hesitant to get his teammates involved, despite his chucking sometimes. But I think that this is the Tmac that we need: play within the offense, 20 shot attempts at the most, and playing the point forward position. Like I said before, we were 38-14 last year when he had more than 5 assists.
while we're not as good by the actual numbers, we've actually gone from #3 in defense last year to #2 this year. we still do the same clog the paint, draw charges, dominate the defensive glass defense we we were doing under jvg. it's actually kind of amazing considering how little we play deke that we're still so high. unfortunately, we still score like jvg is coaching us and we suck at 3's so it hasn't really made any difference on our record, but our D has been impressive all year. it's comforting to know that didn't go away overnight like i feared it might.
What a come back. Dude, I'm not whining at all. As far as I'm concerned the Rox are kicking ass this game for a reason--a balanced attack. I'm just pointing out that when they go away from that is when they let lousy teams like Indy and Milwaukee hang around.
As Big Yao told every of his team mates prior to this game....They should all remember that humiliation by the Philidelphia 76ers. They should not take inferior teams for granted. He said even though this is a back-to-back for the Hawks, they're a better team than the 76ers, which also played back-to-back with the Rockets. And the Rockets just collapsed and got beaten by the 76ers after leading some 20 points by half time. So they should continue to play with the same intensity, energy and focus, and put away the Hawks by say 30 points !!
Yes, JVG hate to play zone. I don't like it either but vs a team with no outside shoot you can use it and we are a good rebounder team to stop the offensive boards from the opposite team that usually comes when you play zone.
Yes, because that ppg is for the entire season. I dont have the numbers but I am willing to bet that our ppg has been improving last couple of weeks. Rockets were miserable on offense at one point. During last couple of weeks the offense looks much much better. A large part of this has to do with the fact that Scola has moved into the starting line up.
dude, we have had 4-5 guys in double figures almost every game since tmac has been back, along with 24-25 assists a game. what more balance do u want? 10 guys in double figures? everybody shoots 10-11 shots?
