Airport area, for real? That's cool though. Talk about a small world.

I don't know...guys like Hales and Buckner could could be HUGE playmakers for us on offense, and Aaron Williams could easily be the one of the next great DB at UT.

Unbelievable. Talk about being in a fantasy world. Usually people can keep these things in their minds, but this guy called a press conference and said some wacky things about talking to coach, etc. I kinda feel bad for him, but man. Show some self control.

What did this guy think was going to happen? That Cal would decide to sign him regardless of never being recruited?

I'm happy about OSU(thats Oklahoma State btw)'s recruiting class. A third consecutive top 25 recruiting class according to Rivals.
But I don't care how good your recruit. class is, if they never even touch the field within 1-2 years then all the ratings will mean nothing

I wonder if Gilbert is trying to get an early jump before Shepard does. Either one would be great in burnt orange, I think Mack really needs to pick up a stud QB/RB/DT in this class.

Take it for what it's worth...

At first it seems like sour grapes from a Texas paper, but not sure why a guy like Sonsini would make something up like that.

Guess recruits didn't have the same hesitations about Bobby Petrino that the ESPN talking heads suggested they would:

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/recruiting/football/2008-02-06-petrino-arkansas-class_N.htm

    Rivals.com has Arkansas ranked #37
    Scout.com has Arkansas ranked #23
    ESPN.com has Arkansas ranked #18

Not too bad considering Petrino came in so late in the recruiting game and had to work hard in a small amount of time.

Good for Arkansas fans I suppose....but I will never ever consider Petrino anything other than a scumbag.

Looks like another middle of the pack recruiting class for the bonghorns. Classes like this one aren't going to put you in contention for the national title. Expect more losses to the KStates of the world and probably even the continuation of A$M's winning streak for a while

UT learned a long time ago that recruiting rankings dont mean squat.

the year UT landed, corey redding (#1 hs defender coming out) and chris simms (#1 hs offensive player coming out) we though we'd win atleast 2 titles. OU had a much weaker recruiting class but they went on to crush the horns and make a couple of appearances in the BCS...

The only year UThug has done anything on a national scale was when they had #1 recruit Mensa Young behind center. If you say that the whorns can rely on Greg Davis and Mack Brown to outfox the competition through great coaching, I laugh at you.

    Would-be recruit admits scholarship hoax
Player says he wanted to play at D-I school, so he made it up

RENO, Nev. - A prep football player who had claimed he was duped into believing he was recruited to play at a Pac-10 school admitted Wednesday he made up the story.

Kevin Hart, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman for Fernley High School, offered a broad apology in a statement he issued through the Lyon County School District. Hart said he had wanted to play football at a Division I school “more than anything.”

“When I realized that wasn’t going to happen, I made up what I wanted to be reality. I am sorry for disappointing and embarrassing my family, coaches, Fernley High School, the involved universities and reporters covering the story,” Hart said.

Lyon County sheriff’s detectives had been unable to corroborate Hart’s claims that he had been duped by a man he paid to help promote him to college football programs.

Lt. Rob Hall said Hart had not informed detectives of his confession, and they would continue to investigate to see if Hart had broken any laws, such as filing a false police report.

Hart first spoke with deputies Saturday, a day after he announced at a school assembly and a news conference that he would sign with the University of California, Berkeley.

At the announcement ceremony, Hart, with Fernley coach Mark Hodges at his side, said he talked with Cal head coach Jeff Tedford many times, and that “personal experience” led to his decision to choose the Golden Bears over Oregon, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.

But the announcement was questioned almost immediately, and on Monday officials with California and the University of Oregon said Hart was never recruited.

Hall said Hart had claimed that the alleged promoter he paid was named Kevin Riley, and that he believed he was from Las Vegas. Hart, however, was “unable to provide any phone numbers, addresses,” or other contact information for the purported recruiter, Hall said.

“Initially, we thought if this was in fact a hoax or something Kevin came up with, maybe he was trying to put his name out there and create some interest,” Hall said.

“Or maybe he just thought it was going to be and when it didn’t happen, rumors started and it just got bigger and bigger and he didn’t know what to do. That’s why we want to sit down with Kevin and talk with him to get his perspective about what happened, where did it start, when did it start,” he said.

Hall said detectives will forward their investigation to the district attorney’s office to decide whether prosecution was warranted.

Tedford said Wednesday he had never talked to Hart and the Golden Bears never recruited him.

“It was total news to me, and it’s unfortunate that that whole situation is what it is,” Tedford said.

Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said the Ducks did not recruit Kevin Hart, and that he had been contacted by law enforcement authorities.

“Whatever happens, it’s a shame,” Bellotti said.

On Tuesday, school district administrators said an internal investigation showed that none of the universities once thought to have pursued Hart — including Nevada, Washington and Oklahoma State — had contacted Hart.

Superintendent Nat Lommori and Assistant Superintendent Teri White, in issuing the statement the day before recruits across the country sign letters of intent to play for college programs, said they wanted to relieve concerns prospective recruits to those schools might have because of the Hart matter.

The school district’s investigation was continuing, White said.

open your eyes littlemexxx and read the post before responding. then maybe youll have something intelligent to say.

but like i said, a high recruiting class rank doesnt mean jack. OU has handily destroyed UT w/ their lower rated recruiting classes over the past several years. look at A&M. theyve had lower rated recruiting classes and theyve defeated UT also.

not too worried that UT didnt land scott. they recruited 4 other HB this year. i just hope they got some good secondary. their pass defense needs serious work.

We picked up the #1 ranked safety in Aaron Williams and DJ Monroe is a Top 3 CB. We also picked up Nolan Brewster out of CO and he is considered one of the best DBs out of this class as well.

Our secondary is going to be set for the next 4-5 years, we've consistently picked up top backs the past 2 classes. With our new DC, I think we'll see a drastic improvement in our D.
