We really do deserve a 'C-" but I really don't put any stock into Tim Leglers opinion....He is a notorious Rocket hater along with Barkley

 

Ninth place is mediocre. If the Rockets were any good they'd actually have a playoff spot now. Yes, there's still time to turn it around, but if you're going to grade the season so far the season so far is ninth place. Anything on the outside looking in cannot be better than a C.

Personally I'd downgrade Minnesota and Memphis to D teams, rather than reclassify the Rockets.

Also, there's an understanding that C means average, rather than good. I'd say that's a pretty good summation of the season so far, with the better play that's come recently making up for some of the seriously craptaculous stuff last year.

 

Does anybody feel that once we make it to the playoffs we are going to get creamed if we stand pat with our current roster?

 

That's kind of a concern now, yeah. Everyone's so desperate to make the playoffs that no one's really stopped to think about what happens after the Rockets get there.

Makes me wonder, what happens if the Rockets get destroyed in the first round? Does the team go to pieces--crying jags, hysteria, crack in the locker room?

The Rockets just do not compare to the top teams out there. You'd have to be a real homer to think that Houston is comparable to NO, or Dallas, or Phoenix, or LA. If those are the top tier teams, then who's the next tier? Denver, Utah, etc. Sorry, but I don't think the Rockets are comparable to them either.

So they're not in the top tier. They're not in the next to top tier. What do you want to call the next tier down?

Do you not realize that JVG was fired because we weren't going anywhere so comparing ourselves to a team last year ain't gonna cut it?

You can have a 75% winning record, and if you are 9th best...you are 9th best and lotto bound.

Do you not understand that we (and the media) had very high expectations for this team and they were not met so there is no way we can get anything higher than a C?

I hope we can pull off a NY Giants sort of win, but lets be real. We've had a good streak going, yes...but as you said, it is an 82 game season. If we fall even a little bit, we are out of the playoffs.

In the playoff the regular season record worth a bleep. Last 4 years the best team record wise of each conference hasn't been able to go to the finals.

So regular season records, NBA power ranking = same chance as any team that make the playoff of winning a championship.

In Houston only 2 championship, we never get a high seed in the west?

And the only thing for getting a high seed is HC advantage, something that Houston doesn't have advantage, so at the end you going to have to play a thought team if you are 1st or 8th. I the West no the East. Actually a preferred to play NO without HC that GS with HC.

 

Houston was the #2 seed in the west in the 1993-1994 playoffs... I am not sure what you mean by "we never get a high seed in the west" means. We were #6 in the 1994-1995 playoffs though, perhaps you were referring to this?

 

I'm not talking about about standings, I'm talking about actual play. LA, Detroit, Phoenix--these are very good teams that play excellent basketball. The Rockets are not on their level.

And they're not on the level of the second tier teams in terms of hustle, game play, etc.

Look, if you're a fan you should be hoping against all odds that the Rockets get a lot better before March/April. Because if they take their current level of play into the playoffs they will get squashed in the first round. The Rockets need to get better, and quickly.

 

First of all, when was the article initially written? Then the question becomes when was it posted? You are as blind as a bat if you think this season is going well because the Rockets have 28 wins. "HAHAHAHAHA! Seriously?" That should be reserved for you. This team was expected to be one of the top teams in the NBA and they aren't even within the top 8 as of right now. So C- is too harsh? I guess the "Fire Adelman" stuff must really get you upset then, right? I mean, this is a pretty good season so far, correct?

Then why we play so well vs LA and they always have problem with us more that they do with PHX?

Then why PHX can't beat us when we don't play them in the 2nd game of a Back to Back (there is no back to back in the playoff) and the Shaq for Marion Trade will actually help big times Houston.

Those team you mention have one thing in common they haven lost their superstar for 15 days. and they are only a few games backs

NOTE: PHX have the best record in the west bu only 14-12 vs the Western conference Houston is 16-13. To bad PHX need to win 3 series in the west to got a chance for a NBA title. And Detroit is only 11-7 vs the west.

You have no fact to say those team are so much better base on your pessimistic opinion.

Tim Legler?? How many championships does he have?? If Steve Kerr, Scotty Brooks got championship rings, why didn't he? lol but yea he is not big on the Rockets, but like someone else said, who cares what he says, maybe he is bitter Scotty Brooks got a ring and he didn't.

 

It's not based on pessimism, it's based on watching them play. Their level of basketball is higher than the Rockets right now.

You may not think the Rockets are a C, but can you honestly give them an A? That is, can you honestly say that they're on the same level as LA, Dallas, NO and Phoenix? Not to mention SA?

The Rockets are not an elite team. They're a good team right now, but not a great one. And I think the most dangerous thing in the world this team could do is make the mistake of thinking it's a great team. It's not, and the Rockets should be working their butts off to get better if they want a chance of getting anywhere in the playoffs.
